Conduct

Civility (WP:CIV)

• Participate respectfully, and with consideration
• Do not dismiss the opinions of others
• Present concise and coherent arguments, do not attack others
• Be professional
• If you are uncivil, use <s></s> to strikeout your previous comments, or quietly retract your comments, and reword (WP:RUC)
• Ensure your edit summaries are clear, concise and use neutral language (WP:ESDOS)
• If you run into issues with disputes, use the third opinion (WP:3O) page, followed by the dispute resolution noticeboard (WP:DRN), and finally ask an admin.
• In any emergency situations (hate speech, legal threats, illegal activity), see WP:EMERGENCY
• Refer to Wikipedia:Reverting for advice on reversion, but revert vandalism on sitght

Consensus (WP:CON)

• Consensus sees editors deciding whether a version of a page is satisfactory

• All edits should be explained, with clear edit summaries, or by talk page (WP:EDITCON, WP:DISCUSSCONSENSUS)
• Ensure you do not revert without talking through an issue on its talk page (WP:TALKDONTREVERT)
• Get an outside opinion if you are unsure (see above)

Dispute resolution (WP:DR)

Content resolution (WP:CONTENTDISPUTE)

• Do not edit war - discuss the issue with the opposing editor
• Focus on editor conduct during disputes, not editor conduct - the content, not the contributor
• Disengage from a dispute if it is overwhelming
• For emergency content removal of personal information, you can request oversight (WP:RFO)

Conduct resolution (WP:RUCD)

• Discuss the conduct with the other editor, on their own talk page rather that article talk page
• Multiple places are available for different categories of issue:
  • the administrator's noticeboard for incidents (WP:ANI, for general issues)
  • the edit warring noticeboard (WP:AN3)
  • sockpuppet investigations (WP:SPI)
  • administator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV) usernames for administrator attention (WP:UAA)
  • ...and the Arbitration Committee (WP:AC) - but this as a final resort for serious disputes

Edit warring (WP:WAR)

• Edit wars occur when users disagree with content of a page, repeatedly overriding the other's edits
• Disputing editors should reach consensus, or pursue dispute resolution
• The three-revert rule (WP:3RR) states that an editor should not revert more than three times within 24 hours - with some exceptions like vandalism or policy violations
• There exist exemptions to edit-warring:
  • Self-reversion
  • Reversion to your own userpage
  • Reversion from banned users in violation of a ban - along with sock/meatpuppets
  • Reversion of obvious vandalism
  • Removal of copyright violations
  • Removal of illegal content
  • Removal of biased, unsourced, or poorly sourced content
  • Reversion of spam
• Edit wars can be avoided by opening discussion with the opposing editors
