Wikipedia Start-up Homework Due: Tuesday, October 25, 2012

A.) Slow Earthquakes
B.) This page is not fully developed and could be improved on a lot; It explains what a slow earthquake is and what is probably the cause of them, with some uncertainty.
C.) This page needs to have way more information along with pictures and possibly a .gif explaining the difference between slow and normal earthquakes.
D.) A successful part of the page is the language used to convey to the audience, it is easy to understand. An improved part of the communication is that there isn't enough information to fully understand the concept of slow earthquakes.
E.) There is nothing successful about the visuals because there are none present, and to improve it, it should have at least one if not multiple images.

A.) Earthquake
B.) This page explains what an earthquake is and what it does to the Earth and the effects on it, along with life forms.
C.) I think that it could use a .gif showing the movements of an earthquake.
D.) This is a very well developed wiki page and the only written communication that I think could use some improvement is the "effects of earthquakes" part. There could be more information not just on the impacts of humans but of those to animals as well.
E.) There are very many pictures that show you what an earthquake can stem from and the results of earthquakes, but they do not include an image that shows earthquakes starting or how it is said that they are created.

A.) Seismometer
B.) This page explains what a seismometer is and gives a general discreption on how it works, along with other modern instruments that are used alone or with the seismometer.
C.) Possibly a .gif of a seismometer in action, or a link to a video of one picking up data.
D.) They really got the history of the seismometer or at least early practices down pat, but maybe could have a little better explanation as to the way that they work and operate.
E.) I do like the replica picture of the old seismoscope, and I feel like only three pictures for this page is on the low side, and I'm not sure how old the kinemetrics seismograph picture is but that could possibly be updated if there is a more recent one.

I would like to take the uploaded "Slow Earthquake" page and revamp it to make it an up to par wikipedia page.
A.) Slow earthquakes, What causes them, Where are they occurring, What they look like compared to a "quick earthquake", and can they possibly signal the major earthquakes before they happen?
B.) The value of the slow earthquake could be phenomenal to the specialist audience and the wide audience if it in fact does have the opportunity to predict or possibly help in any way to fully understanding earthquakes and when they are going to happen.
C.) I tend to structure it just like any other good wiki page, only better! I will try to get the best information possible and put it into words that not only specialists would understand but as well as high school level students. I want to create not just an image but moving image that shows the difference between what a slow earthquake would look like and a quick earthquake would look like seismically. I want to do this mostly because I am very curious to find the difference between the two, and if I am wanting to know this than I am certain that others are as well.
