Hiji Hedjo Daun[edit]

Hiji Hedjo Daun (Japanese writing: 肘ヘッドダウン) is a Japanese martial art that specializes in uniquely effective lateral elbow techniques whilst keeping the face pointed downwards to the ground to defend himself against straight attacks from his opposing fighter. The name literally translates to "elbow head down" which directly explains what the martial art is about.

History[edit]

The sport originates from the farm lands near Tokyo, where two brothers (Yamashita Takumi and Shiraishi Takumi), who are the founders and headmasters of the sport, started practicing Karate in their local Dojo. They would get picked on by the bigger guys and after a few years they were sick of it. So they decided to create a martial art to counter the lateral kicks and punches in Karate. After a few months they completed the basics of the sport which are called "Kyūkyoku chie makimono"(Japanese writing: 究極の知恵の巻物 ). The basic techniques they mastered allowed them to defeat the Karate masters of their local dojo. In the early 20th century the brothers were infamous in Japan. Because Karate is the national martial art of the country the brothers and the martial art were banned from Japan and if one would dare to use the techniques in Japan they would be executed. That's why the martial art is so unknown in the world but legend says, the brothers are still alive and still mastering old and creating new techniques.

Techniques[edit]

Because the sport is hidden for over almost 200 years now, new techniques are unknown. But the original techniques were focused on defending one self with the top of their head by pointing it forward and the face down. This was extremely effective against users of Karate. The attacks were mainly focused on lateral elbow movements (also known as: elbow uppercuts) which are extremely effective and when mastered even deadly attacks which are easy hidden in movements what makes them even more dangerous because you will never see the attack coming and one hit is more than enough to knock out the opponent. It is said one who masters the martial art is able to rotate their arm 360° so they can attack an opponent who is behind them.

Belt system and rankings[edit]

There is no known belt system but many believe it is the exact opposite of the Karate belting system just to show how hard the sport counters Karate. It would look like something like this:
