User:F.J.Dyson

This user page is named in honour of Freeman Dyson, who was a polymath and pioneer in several areas of physics and mathematics. He made key contributions to quantum field theory, and had a big role in making sense of perturbation series and Feynman diagrams in quantum electrodynamics. He also had a strong interest in pure mathematics, in particular, number theory. He also had a very big role in the spectral theory of Random Matrices. It was his remarkable insight to "guess" that the pair correlation function that Hugh Montgomery had conjectured to hold for the zeros of the Riemann zeta function coincided with the "sine kernel" pair correlation functions in Random Matrices. In the latter years of his life, he contributed greatly to advocacy of nuclear disarmament.
