The documentary The Greatest Hip Hop Story Never Told - FrekzaNatcha is a 2023 documentary that focuses on the 1990s rap group FrekzaNatcha. It tells the story of the rap group's journey from North Alabama and their struggle to succeed in the hip-hop music industry during the late 80s and early 90s. Directed and narrated by Derrick Greene, the documentary was released on September 7, 2023, on Amazon Prime Vido and has since gained popularity on other streaming platforms such as Tubi, OTT Studio, Nulu, Future Today, Stash (YouTube), and Kluster TV.
The story is set in Decatur, Alabama, a small town in North Alabama, and follows each member of the group (Cedric "Ced D" McDaniel, Derrick "Fresh Da Paffinda" Menefield, and Wiley "DJ Dream" Nunn) as they narrate their experiences and the challenges they faced trying to break into the music industry. The group wrote, produced, and performed their own music and even managed the marketing of their own music until they signed a record deal with Lightyear Entertainment, Warner, Electra, and Atlantic in 1999. Unfortunately, their efforts did not result in a national release due to a lack of promised funding from their investor.
In 2000, FrekzaNatcha released their album "A Forecast For Total Destruction," which included hit singles "Get Wild" and Striptease featuring appearances from the Children of the Storm. This album showcased the group's talent and ability to collaborate with other artists.
After the popularity of "A Forecast For Total Destruction," FrekzaNatcha recorded with David Banner and featured on Banner's 2003 release MTA 2.
