All states have official holidays observing

In addition, most states observe additional holidays, some unique, and some shared by multiple states. The table below shows holidays that are observed by at least 3 states, but that are not observed by all states.

  1. ^ Florida observes the Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a "legal holiday" on January 15. State employees in Florida have a paid holiday on the 3rd Monday in January. Some states, including Arizona, Idaho, and New Hampshire, observe alternate holidays, such as Civil Rights Day, on the 3rd Monday in January.

  3. ^ In Alabama, which observes Confederate Memorial Day, the last Monday in May is observed as "National Memorial Day."
