Faisal Alkassim[1] has previous academic and professional experience in finance by obtaining international education in the best universities in the United States of America and United Kingdom. Moreover, the professional experience was obtained with top finance and banking institutes. The academy and research alone is not enough as the professional industry requires on job experience and training besides certifications.

Tashuwer Financial Consulting[2]

Founder

Financial Service include planning, budgeting, historical analysis of cost and revenue. Tashuwer also provides valuation as its a member in Saudi Authority for Accredit Valuers[3] Tashuwer also provides accounting services by appointing accountants to provide book keeping. Other Tashuwer Financial Consulting services include corporate finance such as facilitating debt and equity deals in case capital increase.

The clients assisted were Yamamah Publishing an important news agency which prints a well known newspaper Al Riyadh[4] , Tabuk Fisheries[5]

Al Rajhi Bank[6]

Faisal worked in the finance department and on a monthly basis the performance of Al Rajhi bank is reviewed; there are three important segments to the bank; Retail, Corporate, and Treasury. Moreover, there are subsidiaries to Al Rajhi Bank such as Al Rajhi Bank Jordan, Al Rajhi Bank Kuwait, and Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia, additionally there is Al Rajhi Capital and Al Rajhi Takaful for Insurance. The finance daily job is to review the historical performance compared with the previous year and with budget. Moreover, there is more emphasis on bank product and especially consumer financing. Hence, detailed financial analysis is required on an occasional basis, which is reported to executive management to determine the profitability and efficiency of the bank performance.

Faisal also worked in the Investment division in the private equity department, which was responsible for purchasing equity stakes in public companies to benefit from corporate growth and to control for management. The private equity business is a long-term investment process, which requires great managerial and technical experience. a Real Estate income fund was launched with Arcapita Bank in Bahrain to be invested in the GCC region with $500M in size. A Private Placement Memorandum (PPM) was prepared for the fund including a subscription sheet, and a terms and conditions sheet. The whole process of establishing the fund required following up with regulators, Shariah Boards and investors.

Another important experience station was the Leveraged Finance responsible for large infrastructure projects by organizing syndicated loans. This is done through club loans whereby Al Rajhi Bank participates in financing with other banks in a single deal. During 2009 there was two important syndicated deals in the power sector by lending electricity planets one with Rabigh IWPP and another with Al Dur IWPP power and water plants.

Riyad Bank [7]

Research Analyst preparing company analysis is a prime responsibility through conducting company visits and obtaining information on future company plans to speculate future price movement. Moreover, different methods of stock valuation were used such as P/E and P/B ratios. These reports were submit to fund manager to create fund positions

Merrill Lynch[8]

The first work experience was unpaid for one year in Merrill Lynch trying understanding financial products and understanding client’s needs. Financial products were mainly equities, fixed income, and money market mutual funds. Communicating with customers through seminars and exhibitions requires knowledge of investor appetite and product return. Usual clients to Merrill Lynch were retirement and pension individuals over 50 years of age who is risk averse.
