Fakhr-e-Gunyar (the Pride of Gunyar) made its debut on Facebook on 24TH April 2014, as a Closed Group and was established by Mr. Waqar Ahmed (one of the Administrator). As of 31st October 2017 nearly 630 individuals joined its ever growing fold. The group activities are monitored by a team of 8 Administrators with prescribed guidelines. Only the village natives, wherever they might be settled, are eligible for the membership. The Group has also introduced an instant messaging service through which alerts of news updates and important events are sent to the Cell Phones connected to its network. The instant stream of messages relating to deaths and funeral prayers are widely appreciated by end users. The attempt of the Group to bring out its 2017 calendar is aimed at country-wide introduction of not only Gunyar as a role model village but also its highly educated, skillful and talented cadre. The group management is optimistic of receiving from all pertinent quarters the appreciation, recognition and accolades that is so earnestly deserves.

Village Gunyar, besieged from three sides by lush green mountains, situates three kilometers south-west of Thana (Malakand). The village is best known of its people who are mostly MadaykhailMiangan and are the ancestors of Maday Baba & Sarai Baba. Majority of the villagers are settled at Karachi whereas numerous are earning their livelihood in Middke East, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and United states. There is a healthy trend of education in the village and almost 80% of the inhabitants are fairly educated who are suitably positioned in Government and private sectors. The government established first primary school for boys in the year 1958 and presently education is imparted in four primary and medical schools, two each for boys and girls. The Association of youths of Gunyar has played an unprecedented role in re-shaping the village. Its major achievements includes plantation of a forestry on 110 hector of mountain slope, construction of village community Centre (with financial assistance of High Commission of New Zealand), bridge linking the village with its adjoining fields, tube-well for irrigating agricultural land, live-stock breeding and cementing of streets and pavements. Besides producing variety of seasonal fruits, the village formers produce wheat, barley, maize and pulses. The remnants of ancient civilizations reveals its linkages with Gandhara dynasty and Muslim era of MahmoodGhaznavi.
