Faralya is one of the most beautiful canyons in southern Turkey and in addition to the spectacular nature there are also interesting relics from the Roman, Greek and Lycian eras. It is a unique part of the western Turkish Mediterranean coastline and is located to the south of Fethiye and the Babadag mountain.

The village is set in the beautiful red pine forests overlooking the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean sea and borders the natural treasure that is Butterfly Valley.

The Lycian Way, a long and beautiful hiking trail, begins in Fethiye and ends over 200 km away at Geyikbayiri, Antalya.

The one major problem though is the lack of a regular water supply during the summer months. Sadly. the supply is being hijacked by local families who hold the foreign residents living in the village to ransom by charging extortionate prices for their private deliveries of H2O.

The water company, Muski, blame the situation on low pressure of the water supply during the summer months - but there seems to be an endless supply for these local "entrepreneurs".

This difficult situation is only going to worsen as more and more properties are being build in the area including several large hotel complexes. The water company really need to sort out this problem and up their service levels to ensure there is a proper water supply for everyone.
