Mandalorian casting

[edit]

Also in the month, Gina Carano and Nick Nolte joined the cast,[1][2] as Cara Dune and the voice of Kuiil, respectively;[3][4][5] Misty Rosas provided the on-set performance of Kuiil.[5] The following month, it was announced that Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, and Werner Herzog had joined the main cast,[6] as Moff Gideon,[7] Greef Karga,[3] "The Armorer",[8] Dr. Pershing,[9] and "The Client".[10] By March 2019, Taika Waititi was revealed to be voicing an IG bounty hunter droid, IG-11.[11][3]

Pascal, Weathers, Carano, and Esposito return for the second season,[12] with Pascal also slated to appear in the third.[13]

Arc reactor

[edit]

In the first movie, the armor suits are powered by a miniaturized arc reactor, a fictional clean energy source. The arc reactor is also used to power the electromagnet that protects Stark's heart from the shrapnel embedded in his chest. The first reactor was allegedly capable of powering the electromagnet protecting Tony's heart for fifty lifetimes, but after returning home, Stark developed a more efficient reactor that he used to power the Mark II and Mark III suits, although Stark reverted to the original reactor after the new model was stolen by Obadiah Stane to power his Iron Monger suit. The original reactor had great difficulty providing enough power to the Mark III suit, being depleted to around a fifth of its power supply simply by flying Stark from his home to Stark Industries, with the last 20% (as well as the emergency backup power) being exhausted during his fight with Stane in the Iron Monger armor, barely keeping Stark alive after the fight. By the second film, all of Stark's Iron Man suits are fitted with their own arc reactors, allowing James Rhodes to confiscate one. Stark also has a large scale version of the reactor that powers his factory.

The second movie reveals that the original arc reactor was first developed some years earlier in a joint effort between Howard Stark (Stark's father) and Russian physicist Anton Vanko (the father of Ivan Vanko). The film also reveals that the miniaturized arc reactor that Stark has been using for a power source is slowly poisoning him with palladium. When Stark successfully develops a new element (unidentified in the movie, but said to be vibranium in the novelization) to use as a substitute power source, he has a new suit (Mark VI) developed, which is capable of channeling the reactor's power.

In The Avengers, Stark develops a large scale arc reactor to power his Stark Tower in New York City, which is said to have the ability keep the building running for over a year with clean energy. Stark's personal arc reactor is able to absorb lightning from Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, powering the Mark VI to over 400% capacity. The arc reactor also prevents Loki from taking control of his mind, as the reactor blocks this effect of Loki's staff.

Move to mainspace checklist

[edit]
  1. Move to the mainspace! This can happen in two ways: contact an admin to perform the move (which requires the deletion of [the article] in the mainspace). User:Czar has been helpful in the past to moving the draft. OR place {{db-move|1=[draft page]|2=Filming has begun on the film, allowing it to enter the mainspace per [[WP:NFF]].}} at [article]. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE!
    1. If the moving admin does not do this, be sure to remove {{Draft article}} and unhide the categories.
  2. Change the template at List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films section and [corresponding second page (in other media or sequel section)] from {{further}} to {{main}} and update the table on the List of films article to link directly to the new article and change its status to "Filming".
  3. Replace the whole [corresponding second page] with the "minimal" content.
  4. Upload the Phase Three film logo (which you can grab from here) to [[:File:[film name] logo]].
  5. Fix redirects currently going to [corresponding second page] to the new mainspace article.
  6. Add the article link to all the nav boxes used in the article.
  7. If Marvel provides us with a press release indicating filming starting, add any info from that to our respective pages (castings mainly).
