His works mainly focus on the social and cultural history of the United States.

Studies[edit]
After graduating from Ecole Normale Supérieure in 1981, Weil passed the agrégation exam in history studies (1984). He then studied at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts from 1985 to 1987, before returning to France with a scholarship to Fondation Thiers, and earning his doctorate in History from EHESS in 1991. In 2000, he was certified to lead research at Paris VIII university.
