Overview[edit]
Pi-Con is a science fiction convention which has run two years in the Pioneer Valley. The attendance both years was around 300 people. Pi-Con features multiple tracks of panels, dealers, role playing and board gaming, and a video game room.
What sets Pi-Con apart from the average convention is that it focuses on the more offbeat parts of fandom: lesser known authors, fannish interests outside of science fiction itself, etc. The convention is focused on creating a space which fen can feel comfortable in.

Logo History[edit]
Image:Original Pi-Con Logo.jpg All three official Pi-Con logos were created by Keith McCormic. They were based on an original design by Erin Whittey, which is shown to the right. The staff felt that a cleaner look was needed. It was also a four color logo which made it much less practical to print on a T-shirt.
Mascots[edit]
For each of the two years that Pi-Con has run it has acquired a mascot during the weekend. During the first year, a dead frog was found in Salon A. A contest was held to name it and the winning name was "Croaker". During 2Pi-Con, a blob which is presumed to once have been Gummi Bears was found in the con-suite and determined to be the new mascot. No name for the new mascot has yet been found.
Croaker has had a lasting effect as the wrap up meeting which is commonly called a gripe session at most conventions is called a Dead Frog Session at Pi-Con, a play on words on the Dead Dog Party at the end of many conventions which is a party for the staff.
