Re, Prods

[edit]

Note that anyone is allowed to remove a prod for any reason; if they're removed, the next step is not to restore them but to send the articles to WP:AFD. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:38, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Note: What? Where? When? Thanks.
P.S. Note: If I restored, a removed prod - it was probably because they blanked more than just the prod message. Thanks. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 13:44, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
P.P.S. Note: I can't find where I removed a prod message anywhere. Are you sure you left that note at the right talk page? KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 13:50, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
P.P.P.S Oh wait I think I may have found them - are you talking about my reverts here, there, over here, over there, and finally here? Ummm those reverts were due to 2 reason. They were done to disrupt Wikipedia, and they were being done from multiple accounts in an abusive manner. All blockable offensives, and last I checked, we generally revert banned users. Thanks. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 14:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I didn't realize that the user was banned; that does make a difference. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:56, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Need to vent

[edit]

I was blocked from editing by Nat, after I reverted someone from removing sourced content from an article 3 times, in spite of the consensus on the talk page and other editors also intervening, and then reporting the POV warrior on the 3rr noticeboard. I am beyond furious at this action, and need to get somebody's objective opinion about it. sorry for taking this to you, but I can barely think right now I am so angry. I shall not be editing for a while, because i do not trust myself to be objective while this upset. And sorry if this seems absurdly overboard and unnecessarily dramatic. Jeffpw 12:45, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I can understand fully why you're upset, and it's easy to understand why you saw this one as simple vandalism and thus not under the 3RR rule. I checked to make sure the guy who was in the wrong got blocked as well, and he did. I've been in similar situations, and posted the problem on the LGBT project messageboard or ANI specifically so that I could get other users involved and not have to violate 3RR myself, or tried to arrange to get the other guy blocked for violating consensus and disruptive editing before reverting. I don't think you behaved unreasonably, but I do think that it's always better to avoid that 3RR if at all possible, even when I know I'm certainly in the right. Still, I understand why you're angry, and would give you a hug, except that I'm in Cincinnati. PS- my furnace was repaired yesterday, a long and expensive job that involved putting holes in my beautiful home. I went to bed in a nice warm home. When I woke up, it was cold again; the furnace stopped working in the night. I think I'm going to cry. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:51, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
But I didn't violate 3rr. I stopped after 3 reverts. that's why I felt I had done nothing wrong. Anyway, thanks for your reply, though it seems we are both verging on tears right now. I am so sorry about your heating problems (and the hole in your beautiful house). I am going to watch The Wizard Of Oz on DVD now. That always makes me feel better. I'd ship you one of my fur coats, but it probably wouldn't get there in time. Feel hugged--I know I do by you. Thanks for making me feel better. Jeffpw 12:57, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Pah! Wimp!! My central heating thingy stops working just about every other day, and pees water all over the kitchen when it does. And as for Jeff's "overboard and dramatic", I was once ready to do mayhem because my IP got autoblocked, so I know where he's coming from. Tonywalton  | Talk 22:28, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Was that Esperanto, then? Tonywalton  | Talk 20:35, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
In my considered opinion, no. Though I am am not familiar with it, I think that is what is referred to as "teen talk".....and the sort of talk that unfortunately contributed to a little time out for my adoptee. Jeffpw 20:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Oh, fine. Mi ne parolas Esperanton, so I was confused. Perhaps they should have {{User nonsense-3}} on their page! Tonywalton  | Talk 21:04, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I can read and write a little Esperanto, though when it comes to spoken Esperanto, I'm less fluent. It's not at all difficult to learn, and there are several good online learning sites, so if you're interested in learning, you don't need to actually take a class, just to be reasonably self-motivated. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:12, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
And I think that it's important that you know that I didn't read most of what you wrote. When I see a large block of teenspeak like that, especially when it isn't relevant to the encyclopedia, it just isn't worth the effort to me to decode it. I know that, if you have something to say that's important to improving the encyclopedia, you'll take the time to write it in simple, clear standard English, and you deserve to know that, when you don't, I may not bother trying to understand what you're saying. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:35, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

<-- Which goes not only for teenspeak, IMO, Any damn great chunk of text (on Wikipedia or elsewhere), even if the Meaning Of Life is buried somewhere about line 743, is not worth reading for most people, including myself (Tony awards self Barnstar For Promoting Good Text Layout Before FQ Gets One). Tonywalton  | Talk 21:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Tony must hate it when I offer RfA opinions then, lol. In my defense, I feel that opinions are important, and when I offer an opinion, I validate it with explanations, diffs, etc., regardless of which view it is, support or oppose. Of course, I do tend to be verbose at other times as well, so I would imagine Tony avoids me like the plague lol. ArielGold 00:06, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Verbosity isn't the issue. I tend to be verbose as all getout. The issue is formatting; I
can at least be
verb
ose with
linebreaks Tonywalton  | Talk 00:14, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Ohhhh good to know! Yeah, unfortunately, the format of RfAs tends to really not work well with line breaks, sometimes it messes up the numbering, so I do a large paragraph there, although every fiber of my being screams while doing it, lol. But everywhere else, I love paragraphs, and yes, I find it difficult to read giant chunks of text as well. Good to know you won't avoid me like the plague! ~*Giggle*~ Well, at least not for being verbose, anyway. ArielGold 00:20, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Does this warrant a block?

[edit]

Hi. I note that you declined an unblock request on New4325 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) a couple of weeks ago.

I left a note at User talk:Raymond arritt about this, but he seems so be away. I'd just like to get your opinion on whether they should be again blocked for this completely unprovoked personal attack, another personal attack, and this deliberate removal of transgender related template, stub tag and category from an article. The user doesn't yet appear to have an understanding of Wikipedia:Civility or WP:NPA and appears to have tendencies towards an anti-LGBT crusade. They have since left an uncivil comment on my talk page about the article that they removed the transgender stuff from. --AliceJMarkham 23:45, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Blocked for a week by me for the personal attacks. Tonywalton  | Talk 00:06, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Now, come on. Everyone has a right to his opinion, even people whose opinions are bigotry-fueled vandalism and personal attacks. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Oh, wait, I forgot, it doesn't apply to Wikidiots. Never mind. I think a week's block was more than reasonable; I expect someone will have to extend it to an indef before too long. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 01:46, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I expect so. Mind you, for 24.82.148.149 (talk · contribs) to come along the same day and remove the exact same things that have been there for a very long time and to add a garbled comment on the talk page is a remarkable coincidence...
I love the way that others watching your talk page will sort things out without the need to go to AN/I, etc. :) --AliceJMarkham 05:07, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
I like to think of my talk page as the bathroom to the corporate offices of ANI. Sometimes, useful work and networking happens, just because we all happen to be in here. Sometimes, it's so unspeakably sordid that we might all be fired if they knew what we do in here. Tap. Tap. Taptaptap. I'm tapping my toe in a regular pattern. Now I'm running my hand under the edge of the stall...-FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:28, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Does this look like a sock?

[edit]

Amazing coincidences seem to be lingering around the buttock augmentation article just now... One user gets blocked and a brand new user, Ranch coacher (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), suddenly appears to take up the fight! The new user's first 4 edits:

  1. Includes adding the templates {{fact}} and {{or}} and wikilinking the wrong article (as the other user did here), and features a full edit summary.
  2. Add a statement to the talk page saying that photos that depict the same overall effect should be removed.
  3. Telling the blocked user to be civil, which I've seen before as sock goodhand/badhand behaviour.
  4. Add an external link to the article, which is slightly spam-ish but gives a valid outline of 2 forms of augmentation procedure used on genetic females.

I realise that it's probably a bit soon to be certain, but does anybody else smell a sock here? They have raised a valid point about the stub article not being referenced, but that should only take a few minutes to fix. --AliceJMarkham 06:54, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Giove's gone crazy lately. Look at this, here he goes: [1] as IP 87.9.234.27 then [2] as IP 87.2.235.167 and here's a continuation of his obsessive "name of Zadar" edit-warring [3] and [4] as IP 87.2.63.34. Do you think this warrants a block? Please respond on my talk page. Best, --Gp75motorsports 14:59, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

I just don't get the passion which this user is bringing to such a minor point. Clearly there's some cultural thing that I'm missing here. I see that User:DIREKTOR has already filed a report at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Giovanni Giove (4th), which will probably result in some blocks, but with these nonstatic IPs, alas, sometimes all we can do is keep reverting and wait for them to get bored. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:34, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to the powderkeg. Probably the most important thing I've learned since I started editing here, besides discovering the Vampire Watermelon (and related infernal undead gourds) is that anything that has to do with the Balkans, no matter how minute, is grounds for doing just about anything; up to and including dressing up as Spiderman for a climb. Then, when you get busted, you can simply claim that you were promoting THE TRUTHTM and that there is a vast cabal of nationalist pigs who are actively trying to sway Wikipedia into the realms of whitewashed history. It's a lonely place being the only one standing between the truth and the POV hoards of doom... and it apparently never gets boring.
A couple hundred years of hatred makes people do the darndest things... like suddenly have a range of IPs show up and edit the same articles as a blocked editor, right after their unblock appeal was refused. Funny coincidence there, eh?--Isotope23 talk 16:48, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
"People have little fear of the vampire pumpkins and melons because of the creatures' lack of teeth." I'm so glad that you directed me toward the Vampire Watermelon article. I didn't realize that this was a Balkan thing; now I understand. I guess he'll die eventually. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
You know, I almost AFD'd that article a long time ago. Then, I saw that it had real sources; the old-fashioned book kind. To me it is the epitome of what Wikipedia should be; a place where the knowledge of the past gets kept and introduced to the digital generation.
...and I've always wondered who would win a fight between the Vampire Watermelon and Bunnicula.--Isotope23 talk 17:03, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

A few of your major electronics had some problems while you were away, so I took them to the repair shop; don't worry if you don't see your TV or your computer when you get back. And I'm afraid the cat ran away; sorry about that. Don't dig too deeply in the mound of dirt in the garden; I was just burying some trash. Dearest Squiggy, Thank you for your quick thinking about the appliances! I lead such a busy life I hadn't even noticed they were acting up. I look forward to having good working appliances when the repair shop is finished. I noticed there wasn't any receipt laying around--which repair shop is it?
I am rather disappointed about Mr. Snuggles. How did he get away? He is afraid to go outside. Maybe he is hiding somewhere in the house? I'll have a look around.
How thorough you were with the trash! We do have trash service here, but I guess you didn't want to leave smelly old garbage in the house for my return. So sweet :-D The neighbors were a little cranky about the digging, though, and asked me to set the garden back in order. I'm going to go out and take care of it immediately. Being a good neighbor is so important!! Don't you agree?
Thanks again for your help. I knew I could trust you, no matter what some people may have been thinking. So few assume good faith these days!!!! Jeffpw (talk) 23:13, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

University Musical Society

[edit]

FisherQueen, UMS is not a school club. It is a not-for-profit arts presenting organization that supports itself from ticket sales, grants, etc. I am, however, a student at the University of Michigan and would like to create an article about UMS because I enjoy attending many of their performances. UMS is internationally recognized organization and is consistently ranked with Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center as being the best among presenting arts organizations. I certainly hope you deem these organizations as notable - and they certainly have Wikipedia articles! UniversityMusicalSociety (talk) 16:04, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

So all you need to do is go to deletion review with at least three reliable sources- that is, articles about how important this club is that were not published in a University of Michigan newspaper or web site, and explain specifically how this group meets the notability criteria. In general, though, an organization that is purely local in scope would not be considered notable. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:12, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Just FYI UniversityMusicalSociety has re-registered as Amyfing. I've moved the original talkpage and we'e discussing the article. Looking at http://www.ums.org this looks easily notable enough for an article - their Choral Union alone has a Grammy! Cheers, Tonywalton Talk 17:21, 5 December 2007 (UTC) (also placed on User talk:Nil Einne)

Yes, that message is a pretty good example of why you are blocked. If creating new accounts and getting them blocked sounds like fun to you, then I hope you get a lot of joy out of it. I think you'll find it's actually pretty dull, and that you'll have more fun finding something else to do. Have you read the Harry Potter books yet? They're quite a good read, and a lot of the kids are really enjoying them. Me, I admit that I like Lemony Snicket better; I think he's the superior writer, though I know that JK Rowling is the one who gets more publicity. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:22, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
Don't forget The Golden Compass, FQ! Or The Chronicles of Narnia. They are both inspiring, uplifting reads, and that foul mouthed anon IP seems like he needs something with an improving edge. Sheesh, what joy can somebody get from talking like that? Does he kiss his mother with that mouth? Jeffpw (talk) 15:27, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
What about The Lord of the Rings? That's a nice long book to take your mind off of foul-mouthed behavior. And there's a lot of nice things in there about how to treat others with respect. Or perhaps The Bible? I always get bogged down in the "begats" section in Genesis, but the IP may find the New Testament instructional. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 15:48, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

If you'd like to stick around and help us delete promotional articles, we can always use the help. Instructions for nominating something for deletion are here, and the minimum standards for notability are here. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
There are Wikipedia users who love to take autobiographical articles about people who just barely meet the standards and research those people, carefully adding fully sourced information about every embarrassing mistake they've ever made, every crime they've ever committed. Of course, as long as it's fully sourced, the subjects can't then remove the information. It's kind of funny to watch them realize that Wikipedia articles really are informational and community- made, not promotional. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:43, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

If no reliable independent sources have written about this company, then it doesn't meet the notability criteria, and an international encyclopedia doesn't need an article about it. The article does not make it clear whether or not this person is notable. Your message points out two additional problems- as his webmaster, you have a conflict of interest that makes it not appropriate for you to create an article about him, and if the text is copied from his web site, then it is both a violation of copyright and a violation of our neutral point of view policy. Re: your post at User: Miguel de Servet

I agree with User:David Shankbone. The source you are citing does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for reliable sources; if you want to demonstrate that this is true and important, you'll need to cite a newspaper or magazine article. That should be easy to find; if Brownback has really publicly stated that the Earth does not orbit the Sun, then it will have been reported on by many, many more reliable sources. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:41, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

hello, you suggested to delete the page Monika Kruse - I translated the text from the german and spanish version of wikipedia and added some press text from the No historical backstage - an charity organisation Monika Kruse is doing. she release several albums and is one of Germany´s most known Techno Musician —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clubberberlin (talkcontribs)

Great! If she's as popular as you say, it should be no big deal to add a few independent sources, like newspaper and magazine articles about her, or reviews of her music in significant sources. I checked the German Wikipedia's article, but it didn't have any independent sources, either. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:24, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I can't give you a strong answer, because I don't actually read German. MySpace is not usually considered a reliable source, but the first article does seem to be in a magazine, and so a better source- I'm sure someone will come along who can read it and verify that it fits the bill. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:40, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

A question for you

[edit]

I know you are an administrator so that is why I am coming to you. Is it possible to propose a deletion of a page that had already passed a deletion scrutiny earlier? My reasons are different than the last time (I wasn't involved in that discussion). In this case the article in question is a category page, Category:Whistle register singers. The reason why I want to delete this page are several. First, it does not match with the article on the whistle register (which I highly revised recently). I am a vocal pedagogist with a Bachelors in Vocal Music Education and currently in my second year of graduate studies in vocal pedagogy and I assure you that not only am I well informed in this area, I used the very best resources in developing the article on the whistle register. The issue I have with the category whistle register singers is an issue of notability. Unlike what this category suggests, the abbility to sing in the whistle register is quite common, just like the use of falsetto in the male voice is quite common. So really there is no reason to have a category for this ability when most human beings can do it, albight with varying degrees of skill and talent. Certainly all female opera singers and some rare men (countertenors) vocalise up into the whistle register as part of vocal development. Outside of coloratura soprano roles their is little call for use of the whistle register in opera but it is still a necessary part of developing the soprano voice of any vocal type. Furthermore, there are so many coloratura sopranos in the world, that you could have a category page just for them. Also, this category presents misleading ideas about the whistle register, as there is some overlap between the head register and the whistle register. Not all voices use "whistle tone" between "high C" (C6) and "high F" (F6). Thanks for listening and I would appriciate your advice on how best to proceed.Nrswanson (talk) 05:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

  • The link to the category is at the bottom of your page.Nrswanson (talk) 05:36, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it is permitted to nominated something for deletion a second time, especially if you think that there's an important argument that wasn't addressed in the first discussion. I don't know enough about vocal music to know if your argument is reasonable or not, but the rules do permit a second CfD if you think there's something important that was missed in the previous one. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:21, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm at school right now, and so I can't actually read the article on Penis. Does it really say that every male has one? That doesn't seem accurate; surely those people who, through birth defect, surgery, or accident, lose their penises, don't cease to be male? I do have a sudden urge to go through every biography and add, 'He/she is a mammal.' -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:02, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, there was that one gentleman, I forget his name, Joey something? (Ahh, here it is) I wonder what classification he would now be in. I vandalized your userpage/talk page! ~*Giggle*~ I hope you like it. I think it is a nice muted version of the "Girlie" scheme you had, and I did go ahead and put it here as well to match, if you hate it, of course you have that rollback button you can use, and it won't bother me. Another choice would be to have the formatting in a subpage, that would allow you to change from one to the other, via transclusion, so you could actually have a shell pink scheme, green, blue, multiple colors you could change to. Then all you do is change the page title that is transcluded here. Just an idea, of course. Let me know what you think! ArielGold 05:32, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
I think the girlie style is hilarious. But I would only use it to make the joke; all that pink all the time would, I think, give me hives. As to that other thing you said... um... that would be neat, I guess, though I don't know how often I'd actual use it. The discussion isn't quite finished yet, and you'll want to give users a chance to weigh in on the sources you've added. Fort McCulloch

[edit]

I see that you deleted Fort McCulloch as violating CSD G12, which is well and good. But also see that removed links to it elsewhere (specifically List of Registered Historic Places in Oklahoma). Should this be done? I can understand de-linking articles deleted for some of the other speedy criteria, such as A7, but G12 really makes no assumptions about whether or not an article on the topic should exist. In fact the existence of a text to plagiarize may be an indication that the subject is more likely to clear WP:V, not less. Dsmdgold (talk) 17:09, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

The article has been protected due to a content dispute, with (naturally) the wrong version in place. There are two differing POvs on the article, but requests to have the NPOV disputed tag placed on the article have been met with words like "silly" and "ridiculous". "Hi! I hope that you are devoured by a colony of seals! Hee hee!"

A rather unpleasant vand edit to your userpage led to a block for someone to whom civility (per their unblock request) appears to mean "not using sick threats involving screwdrivers more than once in every two sentences". You've probably looked at the relevant edit histories. However the bit about filling a sack with swallows did inspire me to create an alternate account, so hi from Sackful of swallows (talk) I must cut down on those AGF tablets, they're giving me a quite Pollyanna view of the Universe. Hi FQ,

Do you remember the name of the user who caused a big ol' wikiscandal 'cause they claimed expertise they didn't have? It was huge, I read large swaths of the RFC. I think it was a he, I think he claimed an MA in divinities or Catholic history or something, and I think they were big in Wikipedia, like, involved in the running of the foundation/hired by Jimbo/something else important. I'm having a discussion with an editor who keeps pointing to his credentials, and I'm trying to convince them that this will not be looked well upon by his more experienced peers. You're welcome to tell your new friend that I said this: Credentials are irrelevent. We always cite reliable sources to verify the accuracy of our information, and we don't take one another's word for things, so credentials don't mean a thing. I have several degrees in English (although my userpage doesn't say so), but if I can't provide the sources to show that what I'm saying is true, and the dude who disagrees with me can, then if he's a junior high school student, a janitor, or even a Republican, his information is still what goes in the article. Who we are doesn't matter, what matters is what we can verify. Of course, he's welcome to talk about his credentials, but they're as irrelevant as talking about his favorite cheese or the color of his socks; all that matters is that his view is verifiable. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

I caught sight of this even though I'm on a long Wikibreak right now - I'd suggest that he's a sock rather than the one he listed. The one he listed seems totally different, whereas Teenage's edits have been entirely contacting me, you and one edit to a Doctor Who article. His spelling is similar, and how could he know about Claxson etc since he's only been here for such a short time? I'm still keeping away, though, so it's up to you - I'm thinking a possible WP:RFCU is in order now, but I'll leave the call to you if I may. I'll watch this talkpage for a reply! --Porcupine

I have just had a look at this situation and I have to say that I am amazed at the stance to you have taken with regards to this.

R. friend was in conflict with Domer48 and then R. friend revert to "his version" and blocks Domer48 without warning or an official report or without anything said to any of the editors on "his side". Surely this is not the correct procedure that an admin in conflict with another editor should take.

Domer48 should be unblocked, R. friend should have a sever wrap across the knuckles and then if needed an official report should be filed to determine if any blocks are warranted. I hope you have time to look at this situation with a fresh pair of eyes as it seems pretty unjust to me. regards--Vintagekits (talk) 17:28, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm open to the possibility that I was wrong; User:Domer48 appeared to be in violation of 3RR. Wasn't he? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:39, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I wouldnt disagree with it and he possibly was - but no evidence was shown to prove this and R. friend gave no warning and made no report and as I side was in conflict with Domer48 at the time. That is not what an admin should do and that is not how an admin should go about abusing his/her powers. Was he blocked for 3RR or edit warring - its seems that that is not been made clear and that the goal posts are being moved to ensure a goal is scored (at Domers expense). regards --Vintagekits (talk) 17:43, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
If he was in violation of WP:3RR, then there's no cause for unblocking, even if the admin was wrong. If you think that the admin acted inappropriately and something should be done about it, you're welcome to file a report at An/I, but everyone has an obligation to avoid edit-warring, no matter what. Maybe someone else will feel differently, but I'm not seeing a reason to unblock someone who was edit-warring. Warnings and reports aren't required for 3RR, and I'm not sure why Domer thinks they are. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:50, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Where is the evidence for the breach of 3RR - R. friend provided none - he was in direct conflict with Domer48 and then blocked him - if you think he acted correctly and you are with his actions then I will leave it here - if not then do something about it. kind regards--Vintagekits (talk) 18:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm completely confused. As I said and you agreed, the blocked user was edit-warring. So undoing another admin's actions in this case would be inappropriate wheel-warring, and just as bad as edit-warring, and User:Isotope23 might quite rightly block me for it. Also, what are the Basques doing in this Ireland-related edit war? And why is it a bad thing for an organization to be labelled as Basque? And would Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama be more deserving of my vote in the Democratic primaries? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 18:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
The issue isnt Basque or Irish, I am talking about the actions of this admin. I dont see evidence of either edit warring or 3rr! Did R friend provide it? I have seen evidence of Domer48 using the talk pages - that kind of put the edit warring acqusation on shakey legs. Finally what is the point of the "unblock request" system if when the reviewer comes along, see it is wrong but wont undo it because of "inappropriate wheel-warring" - that makes about as much sense as the initial block!--Vintagekits (talk) 18:41, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Huh? No admin is ever required to take action. And it isn't part of an admin's job to police all the other admins. That's why I don't have a button that strips admins of their powers. And my declining the unblock request isn't a sign that I agree the blocking admin should be disciplined in some way, even if I had the power or authority to do that, which I don't. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:18, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

No you've proven helpful. thanks.--Vintagekits (talk) 19:32, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

←I don't quite follow this, Vintagekits. An editor is blocked. They ask for an unblock. It is declined. They ask again. It is declined again (by FQ, this time). In both cases edit warring is cited as the reason for declination. You, agree above that the blocked editor "may have been" edit warring. And now you demand that FQ, who by declining the block unblock indicated agreement with the blocking admin, "does something about the block", adding that not doing so is "spineless". Please, calm down. Take five minutes to review WP:CIV and then take this to AN/I if you still think that action's merited. Tonywalton Talk 19:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

You think you're confused? Check out User talk:Domer48, where the blocked user proudly proclaims that a series of diffs that show him reverting four times in 24 hours has proven him innocent of edit-warring, and makes it clear that the problem is corrupt administrators. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:46, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I was going to comment at his userpage, but I figured at this point it wouldn't have any helpful effect. There was edit warring at Segi. R.Fiend probably should not have been the on to block. There were others edit warring who perhaps should have been blocked. At this point though I don't see a case for unblocking Domer48 as the editor doesn't seem to appreciate that they were in the wrong as much as anyone else; if he is waiting for an absolution he can sit out the 24 hours.--Isotope23 talk 20:05, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
What's the point of trying to help? He appears to not believe in WP:3RR, kind of in the same way that I don't believe in fairies. At least, from his talk page, he seems to have a profound failure to understand what edit-warring is or why he shouldn't do it. Those who cannot learn from their mistakes are doomed to waste a lot of people's time, then eventually get indefinitely blocked when the community joins together to decide their patience are exhausted. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 20:09, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
FQ, I've stepped away to get a bit of perspective, obviously if any of my comment appeared harsh then I apologies, I am sure you are just doing your job. My issue really is that R. friend, 1. appears to be editting in a POV manner, then 2. he encounters an editor with a differing POV he blocks him yet ignores those who agree with his POV.--Vintagekits (talk) 21:20, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm glad you're feeling more relaxed. I don't necessarily disagree with you; I just don't have the authority to do anything about it, since Wikipedia works by consensus, not by individual decision. WP:ANI really is the place where you can explain to the community of administrators what you think is wrong, and what you think should be done about it, and they really do look at things pretty fairly. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:24, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Cool, I will do that as soon as Domer's back in the game as I would like him to be able to have his say.--Vintagekits (talk) 21:31, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
To butt in again, good to see you took some time out to chill, Vintagekits - often the best path when things start becoming over-dramatic (that's interesting... [[WP:DRAMA]] actually redirects to WP:AN/I! I'd never noticed that). For what it's worth I don't entirely disagree with you either, but even if there was a "wrong" in the original block (and I'm not passing judgement) two wrongs don't make a right, and unblocking would just have been another "wrong". Let's keep our eye on the goal here - we're trying to write an encyclopædia. Cheers, Tonywalton Talk 23:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Umm what is wrong with Chad is also a kid which is currently attending GMHS. He is friens with Glen, Nick, and Ryan and several other people but these were the most notable. Many people see him as quite a attractive kid. He is in the Green Mountain High School Band and is pretty much amazing at music. Recently Chad moved to Colorado from Pepsi Present The Democratic Republic Of The Congo. Upon his arrival he brought new ideas with him to The United States of America; things like a stringed instrument which he later code named the guitar. Chad lived with a kid named Tanner in Congo where they found a guy named Jesus who later they killed to achieve his skills in the guitar. They moved to the USA and met a guy named Christian Rodriguez who said that he learned guitar by killing Herman Li (Dragonforce) and eating his heart. Chad recently converted to zomgithmilian and became a priest at the local church. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yikchad (talkcontribs) 23:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not MySpace, so we only need articles about the kinds of people you'd find in an encyclopedia article. This is a nonsense article about some random high school kid, so we don't need an article about that. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:21, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Citing on Phil Brady

Could you link to the specific section of that website where it says that Phil is gay? I did look, and did not see it. Please don't restore the edit until after we've established its accuracy; feel free to use the article talk page to discuss. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:55, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
...beyond any questions of verifiability, it is really a terribly important distinction to make in the article which sex he fancies?--Isotope23 talk 14:01, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes. Also, all non-straight people must get the mandatory facial tattoo that explains who they fancy. This will be easier, of course, on those who get the "gay" tattoo than on those who have to get the tattoo saying "bisexual sadomasochistic bottom bear-fancying foot-fetishist with occasional crossdressing tendencies," but that's a price we're all willing for them to pay. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:48, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, that could make my Mayor McCheese tattoo become suddenly as potentially embarrassing as one of Dumbledorf...--Isotope23 talk 18:29, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
In all seriousness people, that mandatory facial tatoo would be helpful in the campaign to prevent friends of gays from editing wikipedia. If we can confirm that Phil is gay, then we can initiate immediate blocks against all of his friends' ISP addresses. Vandalism would drop like a stone... WLU (talk) 17:28, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Unblock request

[edit]

Hey FisherQueen,

I EC'd you on the unblock request at User talk:71.101.1.215. I was actually going to grant the request since I believe the IP's contributions today are:

(edits from recent days have been the same sort of thing, most likely a clumsy, slightly misguided attempt to update infoboxes with ages...)

Frankly, I think a {{test1}} warning would have been more appropriate than a 48hr block, editor's youth notwithstanding, especially since the last serious warning was over a month ago. What do you think? — Scientizzle 00:19, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

That's fine. I was responding in part to the long string of warnings that IP has received, but taking a closer look, I see that you're right, and I won't be cranky if you unblock. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:03, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, FQ. I'll unblock, and leave a friendly notice about how one might learn to better contribute. Cheers, — Scientizzle 16:07, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:22, 20 December 2007 (UTC)" How is ToadsCastle an inappropriate article? The TC Man (talk) 16:24, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

As the note on your talk page explains, this article appears to be, not an encyclopedia article, but an advertisement for a web site which does not meet Wikipedia's notablity criteria. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:26, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Is it possible to make a ToadsCastle wiki? I'll admit it is kind of an advertisment article, but there is a hacker on the site that is threatning to destroy it and we really need help, he is a lunatic, here is the link http://www.toadscastle.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8519 we really need help... The TC Man (talk) 16:30, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't see any way that an encyclopedia article about this web site would solve any problems that web site is having on its forums, but if you are the site owner, you have a conflict of interest which makes it doubly inappropriate for you to create an article about it. Remember that this is an international encyclopedia; it isn't simply free web space. Since there's no evidence that this subject meets the notability criteria, Wikipedia doesn't need an article about it. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:32, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Actually i'm not the owner, Wikipedians are smart and very complicated I honestly kind of thought i was breaking the rules, This is my second wikipedia account, i have a vendetta with hackers, I don't know if this will help motivate you or anyone else to do anything or not but I am Bloddyfriday. Here is the password as proof, JASON - all caps. I had it banned because it got hacked. So I am high contributer to Wikipedia, hopefully this will urge someone to help us. The TC Man (talk) 16:53, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Bloddyfriday

I don't really care if anyone gets on it i left a message on the account that the password is on you userpage. Nothing can be done with it anyways. A hacker hacked it and was making vandal account off of it.The TC Man (talk) 16:59, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
It isn't really 'hacking' when some user makes threats on a forum, or when you use a password that's easy for any of your friends to guess. Those things don't require any particular skill with a computer. And Wikipedia really is quite difficult to hack. Hacking requires a great deal of high-level computer skills, not just the ability to type or to guess passwords until one hits the right one. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:06, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

I haven't been to the States in many years, and I hate going to Fortress America to renew my documents (lines, double iron fences, searches, etc). You want me to find you a nice Dutch lesbian to help you immigrate? :-P Jeffpw (talk) 09:28, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

I've only been to the Netherlands once, but the thing that struck me was how nice people there were. I visited a couple other countries (where my ancestry lies) during the same trip and walked away from them rather awestruck at how the countries of my ethnic ancestry are apparently full of arseholes (or I at least encountered a disproportionate number of rude people). The Dutch though were very, very cool and accommodating to a North American who speaks only the most rudimentary Dutch. It's probably one of the very few other countries I could ever live in... though I don't think I'd ever get used to the corrugated metal "outhouses" in Amsterdam.--Isotope23 talk 13:31, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Vandals

[edit]

Is it just me or are they being really annoying this week? Ridernyc (talk) 12:27, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

They're home on Christmas vacation, and bored. I guess they didn't get any new books for Christmas. I got Batman: The Dark Knight Returns for Christmas, myself, but can still enjoy vandalslapping over breakfast. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:29, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
I got a book on the history of Ireleand, I'm already about 1/4 of the way through it. It's like bizzaro week. Everyone removing tags and templates, people making insane arguments in AFD. I've never seen some many people calling other people names in AFD, and I've never seen so many people saying SPEEDY DELETE for articles that are nowhere near meeting speedy criteria. Like you said I guess people are bored. Ridernyc (talk) 12:34, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
I love that I have been doing this so long that I have no trouble recognizing an article about a non-notable band, even when it is written in a language I do not technically read. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Lord, I had no idea that the Albanian language was so controversial. I'd go through the diffs to see what the fuss is all about, but I have a feeling that to one outside of the issue it is probably duller than dishwater. I wonder if those editors think outsiders even care about their funny little conflicts. Jeffpw (talk) 13:18, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
I read the talk page, but I can't make heads or tails of it. Something about an alternate historical name of the language; they both seem convinced that the other is evil incarnate, and though I've tried hard, I just can't manage to give a damn. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:20, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Surprisingly I think I actually know a bit about this. By trying to link the language to certain family tree it can be considered an insult because it attacks the cultural history. So one of them seems to be saying the dialect grew out of Greece, the other wants it to have grown out of the otoman empire a more prestigious route for the dialect to have taken. I'm sure that's far from being absolutly correct but that's the gist of it. I worked with many Turkish and Moroccan people and they would always fight about language and the history behind it. The logic I used was the idea that an article should have sources other than blogs. Crazy, I know, but it is Wikipedia's current guideline. I see you are claiming that there are real sources, but you don't seem to have linked to those sources in the article or the deletion discussion. Are they a secret? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:28, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I mistook it for an advertisement for a non-notable web site. I'll correct the problem right away, and undelete the article. Could you please give me links to three newspaper or magazine articles about this web site, so I can add them to the article so it won't be mistaken for spam again? Make sure they're full-length articles in legitimate news sources; we wouldn't want anyone to think this wasn't a fully notable web site. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:36, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Is the criteria for categorizing a new website as a "notable website" the existence of 3 full-length articles from newspapers or magazines? This is a very recent website, and it is notable because I've used it and I think it is important. It is hard for me to believe that such articles will not be written about this website in the comming months. Anyways, here are some links that talk about the website:

Feedback

[edit]

I'm really working on the "Central Toronto Youth Services" page. This is an organization that has been on the forefront of clinical mental health services in Canada, especially where gay and lesbian youth are concerned, and it really needs to be noted. They've won numerous awards for this work, and most recently the City of Toronto's "Pride Award". Here's my challenge - what need I do to satisfy the note you put on the page? Similar Charities have pages with less information ( Kids Help Phone ) or with fewer (or no) references ( Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada ).

OR, was the fundamental issue the tone (because I was working with text from the CTYS website), and if so, have my changes moved the page away from that issue some?

I really appreciate your feedback, I'd like to start contributing to Wikipedia more, so this is a great learning opportunity. Matthew Cutler (talk) 04:44, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for all your hard work! I was concerned that the group might not meet the notability criteria; as that page says, organizations that are purely local in scope aren't generally what an encyclopedia needs an article about. I appreciate that you've added sources- that's just what the article needed- but I'm still concerned, because none of those sources seems to be a full-length article written in a signficant, independent source, and that's what is really needed to make notability clear. I'm not sure; if you like, we could send it to Articles for Deletion discussion, and get some more people to take a look at it and weigh in. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:13, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Quick Delete Explanation

[edit]

I'm trying to add a page IP2Location but quick deleted due to no mention of reason. The software has been used by Wikiscanner at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiscanner. In this case, we think it is important to list it here in wiki to give it credits that its deserved. I'm new to wikipedia, please let me know if I've done anything wrong. Comment added by Tgotchi (talkcontribs)

If this is your own web page, you should not be creating an article about it, as the conflict of interest criteria suggests. If it isn't your own web page, you just need to make sure you have the two or three independent sources- like reviews of the software in significant sources or articles about the software- to show how it meets the notability criteria. Remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a software directory. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:45, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi FisherQueen,

Im not threatening legal action, I am merely repeating what I have been told by Shaun Wilson who has told me that he would more than likely consider legal options against Wikipedia for the vandalism. What I would like to know in this instance is what I should tell him so I can diffuse the situation based on wiki policy.

DC —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doug church (talkcontribs) 11:35, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

What you just said is considered a legal threat by Wikipedia, and similar comments are the most certain way to get indefinitely blocked. Once you declare an intention to become involved in a legal conflict, Wikipedia does not permit you to edit until after the lawsuit has concluded. You can tell Mr. Wilson (assuming that you aren't him) that Wikipedia is not a place to place an official biography. This is an encyclopedia, where all information must be verifiable in reliable sources, and it can be edited by anyone. If you're looking for a place to post an official biography, this simply isn't that place. If you are employed by Wilson, then you should carefully consider our conflict of interest guidelines; it really isn't appropriate for people with a close connection to the subject to edit the article at all, although you can make suggestions on the talk page. We try to have neutral, uninvolved people write and edit the articles to help keep the encyclopedia free of bias. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
You seem to mostly be objecting to maintenance tags, which is counterproductive; maintenance tags draw the attention of uninvolved editors to the article to make improvements that are needed. For example, you shouldn't remove the {refimprove} tag unless you have added some better references- like links to newspaper, magazine, or art journal articles about Wilson. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:51, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi FisherQueen,

[edit]

Hi FisherQueen,

I have a background in law and so I can tell you I am not, repeat not making any form of legal threats whatsoever! You are confusing the issue here.

Given your comments above I wont work on the Wilson page anymore as you are right, there is a conflict of interest here now I am working along side him for the book. I just found the wiki policy on vandalism so will forward that to him, Im sure that will defuse the situation but do understand I am just trying to find out information on what to do as a simple conversation backed up by the appropriate Wiki policy should be more than adequate to dissolve any unnecessary action from Wilson. Anyhow, have a good New years and thanks for the advice.

thanks

Vanity?

[edit]

Thesydneyknowitall and me were talking about vanity articles and we were wondering... you seem knowledgable (and you are an admin): Is Vanity a reason for Speedy deletion? For example: on Krishna Rajendram article Thesydneyknowitall put db|Vanity., while I'm not sure it's a valid reason (I don't see it on WP:CSD). Can you answer our doubts? Thanks a lot. Peasantwarrior (talk) 13:23, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

No. A 'vanity article' is one created by the subject, an autobiography. Many of them get deleted because they have no assertion of notability, in which case the appropriate tag is {db-bio}, but they aren't speedied simply because they are autobiographies. If President Bush creates an article about himself, it isn't speediable, even though he does have a conflict of interest that will need to be dealt with. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:28, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a millon. You really helped us. Now, tell me, what do you think would be the appropriate thing to do with Marjan Šetinc, which is a vanity article (check out the user name)? Peasantwarrior (talk) 13:35, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Just because it's a vanity article doesn't mean it's useless. I slapped it with an autobiography tag and one for sources; you should try to determine whether or not the person meets the notability criteria- my quick glance indicated that he probably does, which means that the article shouldn't be deleted but it does need to be improved, by somebody, eventually. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:41, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
I didn't mean it's useless because it's a vanity article. I was just wondering what was the right thing to do, which you made clear. It seems the subject is notable as he is a former MP. Anyway, thanks once again. Peasantwarrior (talk) 13:45, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
It makes me sad sometimes- Wikipedia is full of these things, crappy autobiographical articles. The subjects are technically notable, but no one cares about them enough to turn them into decent articles, so they just hang there like dead fish. Still, dead fish do have their uses, and you never know when someone might care enough to improve the thing. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:47, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

I can see that he disagrees with you, but I'm not certain that disagreeing with you constitutes 'trolling,' and I am not familiar enough with the subject under dispute to really understand what the problem between you is. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:09, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

You are behaving just as badly as he is. In fact, today, you're behaving worse. I do not think there is currently a Wikipedia for the version of English that you have invented, but you would be welcome to start one if you are not able to communicate in the style of English that this wiki uses. By the way, I do read Anglo-Saxon, in which great poetry was written before the cretin monks took over English, and what you're writing bears no resemblance whatsoever to that beautiful language. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 05:36, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

If you know whas English is, you could bewray the many words in your post which are not English but Latinago muttish. So this Wikipedia does not use English, but English with a bunch of other speakts. And the greater fitt of pòitry and other literature was writted in Seacson, which is a sibling of Thewdish; it hardly shares the grammar or spelling of English. ("Anglo" is not even English; it is still Latin rub.) What do you mean by "invent"? My writing comes fro many hours of readin dictionaries. If you knew anything about English, you can prove im by tellan me which sound the "ea" makes in "read" and other such words. However, you believe it's the same as the "ee" in "reed", so you fail in all belief. -lysdexia 05:50, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Could use some help on this one

[edit]

User:SilkTork is changing the redirect of WP:Plot I changed it back and he quickly reverted it. I have asked for an explanation and have gotten no reply. Changing this redirect affects dozens of discussions dating back almost 3 years. Ridernyc (talk) 13:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I also find it kind of strange that DGG makes this comment [9] 2 hours after the change occurred. He is very active in the debates at WP:Fict and I know he knows what WP:plot is supposed to link to. Ridernyc (talk) 13:37, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm glad you pointed that discussion out; my first instinct was not to revert a good-faith edit before the discussion, but if the change is causing problems now then it seems reasonable to leave it as it was until consensus is reached. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:41, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
yeah that the reason I reverted it. It's currently one of the key policies. Between the AFD's, the ARBCOM, the rewriting of almost every fiction guideline, it's being quoted a lot right now. These are the types of games that started the whole mess with WP:Fict. Ridernyc (talk) 13:48, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Your revert has caused a problem as the redirect has been listed at RFD. Your revert removed the RfD tag so I have to put it back to how it was. In the meantime, to avoid the issues you are concerned about, I'll adjust all mentions of WP:PLot so they point to the right place. Regards SilkTork *SilkyTalk 13:54, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Wouldn't it be easier to save yourself changing the links in all those discussions, only to have to change them back in a few days if consensus disagrees with you, by just leaving the redirect as it has been until after discussion? There are likely hundreds, even thousands, of discussions affected, and... do you know how to find them? I used 'what links here' and got the links to all of the redirects to any part of WP:NOT, which would be even more difficult to search through. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:57, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Plus as we have pointed out there are current active discussions linked to it. Ridernyc (talk) 13:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I see what you are saying. I've just looked at Pages that link to Wikipedia:Plot. I can't see many obvious ones that are current. But I do take your point about the process. However, the reverse is also true, because I, at least, have been using WP:Plot as a shortcut to Plot. So it's awkward both ways! I see how this has come about and will certainly be using Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion for similiar situations in future. Live and learn, eh? Do you really feel it would easier to reverse things? I'm logging off for a bit now, but will check back in later today. Regards. SilkTork *SilkyTalk 14:06, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Well, I have sexy admin tools, and the job of finding and changing all those links isn't one that I'd like to take on, and discussions will immediately get confusing if all those WP:PLOT links are going somewhere new. Me personally, I think that the most logical place for WP:PLOT to go is the Manual of Style discussion on writing about fiction, but that's neither of the choices that you two favor, and I surely don't care enough to try to change all the links... -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:09, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I agree if we were starting fresh the logical place would WP:WAF, but we have god only knows how many links that point to WP:NOT. Ridernyc (talk) 14:14, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
if you look at though right now Not Plot is working pretty well as disambiguation page linking to all the relevant MOS and guidelines for fiction, so actually anyone who types in WP:Plot can find pretty much anything relating to plot. Ridernyc (talk) 14:18, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

(undent)Looking at the complexity of this with possible confusions with WP:PLOT, and suggestions to redirect to WP:WAF I feel I have stepped into and caused a bit of a stink. WP:Plot appeared to me to be a recent creation - I wasn't aware of WP:PLOT. I'll create an unambiguous film plot shortcut - WP:FilmPlot - and then back quietly away from this, leaving it to wiser and more involved heads to sort out. Sorry for any mess I've caused - and Happy New Year! SilkTork *SilkyTalk 15:17, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

That was very graceful of you; I think that WP:FILMPLOT (me, I'd go with all caps, since people are used to shortcuts that are formatted in that way) is a good solution to the dilemma. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:26, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Why did you delete my page on Zanby before I had an opportunity to add any references to it? User:Tomcat66 g500 —Preceding comment was added at 14:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I must have mistaken it for an advertisement for a non-notable web site. If you'll give me links to three articles about the topic in magazines, newspapers, or significant online sources, I'll recreate the article and add the sources so that no one else will mistake it for spam. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:25, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Do you have a script for that or do you just cut and paste it from somewhere? Ridernyc (talk) 15:26, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I don't have a script for that- I typed it the old-fashioned way. It would probably be useful to create a little template for myself, now that you mention it! -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:28, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I've thought of doing it for certain things I type all the time. Just can't be bothered to try to figure it out. Ridernyc (talk) 15:34, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I did it! My new template is {fqundelete}. Pretty neat, huh? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:36, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I changed it to {fq-undelete}; I think I'll be doing this again. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:41, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Nice! I may use that as well - substed, right? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:46, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Please, help yourself. I couldn't figure out how to code ~~~~ so that it would sign for whoever used it; I know there's a way to do that, and I just need to work it out... on second thought, it's probably easier to just sign it as usual rather than try to code it into the template. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
