Kane Goodwin is an Australian rules footballer representing the East Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football League.

Biography[edit]

Born on 26th June 1990, Goodwin was educated at Aquinas College in Perth, Western Australia.

He played junior football for South Perth, before moving to the Perth Football Club. In 2008, he represented Western Australia in the AFL Under-18 Championships. In 2011, he switched clubs to East Perth, where he played 3 league matches before being suspended pending an investigation into his positive drug test - reported to be cocaine and an anabolic steroid.[1] This is the second Royals player to be embroiled in a drugs controversy after Dean Cadwallader was suspended for two years after being found guilty of using the anabolic steroid nandrolone. Swan Districts player premiership player Travis Casserly was also handed a two-year suspension for having pseudoephedrine in his system following the 2010 grand final.

Since the positive drug test, the WA Football Commission has been moving to introduce a rehabilitation program that would support WAFL players suspended under the code's strict anti-doping regulations.[2]
