Self-portrait of Flaarnsturgen

Hello! I'm Flaarnsturgen, which I concede, in the spirit of full disclosure, is not my real name. I'm a veteran Information Technologist with a wide range of professional and managerial experience in mainframe, distributed, and personal computing technology. I currently reside on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

I've been involved with Wikipedia as a contributor since May 2010. My areas of interest include FOSS, Microsoft Windows applications, and personal Software development.

In addition to technical / professional subject areas, I also have interest and (to some extent) expertise in Martial arts, Science fiction, Correspondence chess, Cryptic crossword puzzles, and Indie rock.

Disclosures[edit]

I receive a pension from Computer Sciences Corporation, a global Information Technology outsourcing company. I receive no other compensation from computer-related manufacturing or service organizations.

Technical and professional philosophy[edit]

I support the Open-source software licensing model for software development and distribution. The low-cost / no-cost availability of independently developed software provides an important alternative to the proprietary software that dominates most product niches today.

Style[edit]

As a recent arrival to Wikipedia, I'm a stylistic "blank slate". I welcome input from my colleagues intended to help me correct and improve my contributions.

"Spelling counts"[edit]

Sufficiently articulated.
