Gaby Adam, founder and CEO of By the Sea Communications, has more than 20 years of marketing communications and public relations experience, working with major corporations, such as Microsoft, to five-person start-ups. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate campaigns, brand development, messaging and positioning, media and analyst relations, product and company launches and competitive communications. Most recently, she has been working with organizations in the digital media publishing, legal, angel investing, mega-yacht and environmental sustainability areas.

Prior to founding By the Sea Communications in February 2009, Gaby was a senior vice president at OnPR, where she focused on consumer technology clients such as Digeo, CogniFit and Decho. Before that, she had her own consulting practice for three years and worked with companies such as Holland America Line, SourceLabs, GotVoice and F5 Networks.

From 1997 to 2004, she was a senior vice president at the 175-person Seattle office of DDB Worldwide Communications, one of the most renowned agency networks in the world. In her seven years at the integrated marketing firm, she was director of the agency’s technology practice and provided strategic communications counsel to companies such as RealNetworks, Washington Mutual, aQuantive, InfoSpace, Software AG and Seagate Software, among many others.

Prior to joining DDB, Gaby was an account supervisor at Waggener Edstrom, one of the nation’s most respected technology PR firms, and worked on the Microsoft account for seven years. In that role, she managed PR for a wide variety of Microsoft products and initiatives in the Desktop Applications Division, the Consumer Division and the Internet Platform and Tools Division.

Gaby, who has a BA in Communications from the University of Washington, has led agency teams of more than a dozen people and managed communications budgets of more than two million dollars.

When she’s not working, Gaby likes to travel to the far ends of the earth to explore different cultures, jungles, coral reefs, tropical beaches and ancient temples. She also likes to ski down increasingly scary mountain slopes, race sailboats on the Puget Sound and look for big fish while scuba diving in the tropics.
