-proxy method is when the correlation between a variable and a variable of interest is measured, which gives the value of the variable interest.
-ice cores are cylindrical samples from within ice sheets from polar areas.
-Three rings are wider when it is easy to grow and narrow when it is difficult to grow
-pseudoproxies are used to combine proxy records into an overall hemispheric temperature reconstruction
