The Caravan is a graphic novel written by Shamik Dasgupta and published by Yali Dream Creations and Anitracks Media. [1] . It was launched at the Comic Con Bangalore 2013. The Caravan belongs to the horror/action/adventure genre. It was inspired by the horror films made in Bollywood by the Ramsay brothers in the 1980s.[2]

Plot

For ages a coven of vampires has been traveling the deserts of Rajasthan under the guise of a Caravan of Nautanki or a Gypsy Circus. They raid villages and kill the residents. Their raids are always preceded by a sandstorm following which they arrive as a performing troupe. After performing a few acts they change their forms, attack the villagers drink their blood. Their raids go undetected for years, until a boy named Asif survives their attack.

Years later Asif grows up to be a smuggler across the border, and is arrested by a cop Jai. Jai and Asif get stranded in the desert and find shelter in a fort run by border security force and their volatile and violent Officer in Charge, Daroga Bhairo Singh. As night creeps forth, the caravan of vampires appears once again on the horizon. Asif becomes terrified and tries to warn them but no one believes him. The struggle of Asif and his new found friends against the group of vampires forms the rest of the story.[1]
