American counter-terrorism analysts assert that, in 1992, al Qaida operated an Afghan training camp it called a al Qaida artillery and preps camp.[1]

In 2007 Guantanamo captive Mohammed Sulaymon Barre had his continued detention justified, in part, based on the allegation: "The detainee was identified as being in an al Qaida artillery and preps camp in Afghanistan, in January 1992.".[1]
