From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sadda training camp trained Arab volunteers who wanted to fight beside Afghan militias against Afghanistan's Soviet invaders.[1][2]

In The Arabs at War in Afghanistan Mustafa Hamid described the camp opening Pakistan tribal region in 1986 by the Maktab al-Khadamat.[1] Hamid asserted it was unable to provide effective military training until a former Syrian army officer Abu Burhan al-Suri arrived. The camp operated until 2008, when it was shut down under pressure from the Pakistani military. Maktab al-Khadamat opened the Khaldan training camp, in Afghanistan, after it shut down Sadda.
