Geoffrey Rush is an Australian actor and film producer who has received various awards and nominations, which includes an Academy Award, an Australian Film Institute Award, three BAFTA Awards, a Critics' Choice Movie Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. Rush has also received several honorary awards, including the Australian Film Institute Global Achievement Award and the Longford Life Achievement Award.

Following his breakthrough role in Shine (1996) as Australian concert pianist David Helfgott, Rush won in the Best Actor category at the Oscar, AFI, BAFTA, Critics' Choice, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild award ceremonies. In 1998, Rush starred in four films—A Little Bit of Soul for which he was nominated for the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role; Elizabeth, for which he received a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role; Les Misérables; and Shakespeare in Love, for which he earned nominations for Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, Satellite Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actor.

During the 2000s, Rush received acclaim for several film and television projects. His role in Quills garnered him a second Best Actor nomination from the Academy, BAFTA, BFCA, HFPA, and Screen Actors Guild. Rush appeared in five films in 2003, including Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Swimming Upstream. He portrayed acclaimed film actor Peter Sellers in the television film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004), winning the Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie. In 2010, Rush received widespread acclaim for his performance in The King's Speech, including Academy Award, Golden Globe, Screen Actor Guild Award, BAFTA, and Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor.

AACTA Awards

The AACTA Awards are an annual ceremony that honors outstanding work in cinema and television. The Australian Film Institute originally presented the awards until 2011, when they formed the subsidiary Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), in which Rush is also serves as the founding president. Rush received four nominations, winning the Best Actor in a Leading Role for Shine (1996).
