Thomas Henry Scott (born 28 October 2000) is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for National League club FC Halifax Town. A former youth-team player at Tadcaster Albion, Leeds United and Manchester City, he had a brief spell with Port Vale before joining FC Halifax Town in September 2021. He had a loan spell with Nantwich Town in January 2023.

Career[edit]

Early career[edit]

Scott played youth football for Tadcaster Albion.[3] He joined hometown club Leeds United, before he was signed by Manchester City in 2015.[4] He played for the under-21 team in the EFL Trophy on two occasions.[5] He was released from Manchester City at the end of the 2019–20 season.[1] He went on to have trials at Watford and Birmingham City.[6] His trial with Birmingham was postponed for five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic in England.[7]

Port Vale[edit]

On 25 January 2021, he signed for League Two side Port Vale on a contract until the end of the 2020–21 season after back-up goalkeeper Dino Visser picked up a hamstring injury.[8] He remained on the bench for the rest of the season whilst Scott Brown retained his first-team place, though Scott was dropped from the bench entirely for the penultimate game of the season after manager Darrell Clarke decided to choose "more of an attacking outfield bench".[9] On 10 May 2021, it was announced that he would leave Port Vale when his contract expired at the end of the season.[10]

FC Halifax Town[edit]

On 27 September 2021, Scott joined National League club FC Halifax Town after the "Shaymen" had loanee Aiden Dowling recalled to his parent club.[11] He had been recommended to the club by Frank Sinclair and had impressed manager Pete Wild during a month long trial.[3][12] He acted as back-up goalkeeper to established number one Sam Johnson.[3] He extended his contract in June 2022.[13]

He had loan spells with Guiseley in September 2022,[14][15] Nantwich Town in January 2023,[16][17] and Ashton United in November 2023.[18][19]
