Gilaman Wazir, whose real name is Hazrat Naeem Wazir, was an Afghan/Pashtun poet aged 29 and a member of the peaceful Pashtun Tahafuz Movement. He was viciously attacked in Islamabad on Monday, the 8th of July. He was stabbed and shot numerous times and then rushed to a hospital in Islamabad, where doctors performed two successful surgeries on him. Despite their efforts, he remained in a very critical state. Afghans around the world were very upset upon hearing the news of a beloved poet, loved by many, who had been attacked and prayed for his recovery.

The father of five later died due to his wounds on Wednesday, the 10th of July. The news of his death spread within minutes. The famous, beloved poet was no longer alive. The one behind the attack had fled to Dubai, and no one was caught. No justice has been served by the Pakistani government. No one has been caught, and no one has been sentenced for the killing of the Afghan/Pashtun poet.

Gilaman Wazir will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all Afghans around the world and will forever be loved as "the Shahid Gilaman Wazir," a hero for the Afghans and a symbol of peace and liberation.
