Bibliography[edit]

This is where you will compile the bibliography for your Wikipedia assignment. Add the name and/or notes about what each source covers, then use the "Cite" button to generate the citation for that source.

  • Moslehi M, Abbasi P. 2016. Joanna Russ’s The Female Man: A Butlerian Approach.[1]
    • This article was published in the peer reviewed journal 3L: The Southeast Asian Journal of English Language Studies and should therefore be reliable. It talks about Russ's book through the lens of Judith Butler's work, however it provides valuable information on each of the four main characters in the book. This will help me expand the character biographies which need to be fleshed out.
  • Gardiner JK. 1994. Empathic Ways of Reading: Narcissism, Cultural Politics, and Russ's Female Man. Feminist Studies.[2]
    • This article was published in 1994 in the University of Maryland in College Park's Feminist Studies journal. It focuses a lot on the psychology behind the book, but the most useful part of it is the discussion of controversies that surround the book.
  • Teslenko, Tatiana. 2003. Feminist Utopian Novels of The 1970s : Joanna Russ and Dorothy Bryant. [3]
    • This book was published in 2003 , and I will primarily be using the fourth chapter in the book that discusses Russ's book. It is useful because it talks about the feminist utopia and feminist science fiction genre, as well as a breakdown on the book's formatting.
  • Hicks, Heather. 1999. Automating Feminism: The Case of Joanna Russ’s The Female Man.[4]
    • This article was published in the Postmodern Culture journal from the University of John Hopkins. IT should be reliable, and it has a lot of useful information on Russ's radical feminism in the novel.
  • Ritch, Calvin. 2009. “This shapeless book”: Reception and Joanna Russ’s The Female Man.[5]
    • I believe this is a reliable essay as it was published in the Femspec journal. It has a lot of interesting and useful information on the historical background of the novel, as well as the reception of the novel.
