I am a Cantonese and a "Hongkonger"/Hongkie living in Hongkong, hence a 'Chinese'. By saying ‘Chinese', I mean the so called "Han Chinese", which in my opinion 'Chinese' should only be the name of "Han Chinese", instead of including those non-Sinitic peoples living in China, such as Mongols, Manchurians, Uyghurs, et cetera; However, I do not consider my identity to be Chinese or 'Han Chinese' in the sense of an ethnicity, but rather in a sense of being part of a greater ethno-linguistic group and civilization defined by their tongue of Chinese languages or Sinitic languages (like Cantonese, my mother tongue, Min Nan, Taiwanese, Mandarin, etc.) descended from Old Chinese or at least its sister language, as well as our similar cultural heritage, just like English people and the so-called Lowland 'Scots' who speak the so-called Scots language are both Germanic people (Ironically, Scots was originally used to referred to the Celtic Gaels who founded Scotland and their descendants who still speak their forebearers' tongue - 'Scottish Gaelic', but it is now also being used to refer those Saxons who culturally invaded Lowland and many other parts of Scotland, who also stole the true Scottish people's ethnonym - 'Scots').
