Origin[edit]

The religion is called Origin, or the Path of Origin. Its central promises are to grant Ascension (equivalent to Nirvana of Buddhism to all their followers.

It is a dogmatic, proselytizing faith, which comes with a holy book called The Book of Origin. The Book of Origin contains tales of how the followers of the Ori returned to the path to enlightenment, and thus achieved Ascension.

The Ori themselves are the Gods of the religion. Among the hundreds of Ori, there are Twelve main deities that are worshipped. They are:

  • Kallan - The creator of the universe. Also known as the "Heavenly Emperor". Father of the Sun.
  • Mehla - Deity of Stars and Starlight and mother of the sun. Gave birth to the sun during the "Ages of Emptyness" and so ended them.
  • Golus - Deity of fire and War. Son of Mehla. Usually represented as a gigantic man with skin of rock.
  • Arnall - God of Darkness and the Moon. He rules over Altera (Hell). Not neccecarily an evil deity, though some of his tricks told of in the Book of Origin have caused major Cataclysms, such as the destruction of the First City.
  • Shahar - God of the Sea and master of Rivers and Lakes. Spawned when the waters of the Great lake of Creation began to recede.
  • Karn/Kahn - Goddess of Love, Sex, Inebriation, Music and Marriage. She is reperesented as an Extremely beautiful woman with Blonde hair, Slim body and large breasts. Dances in a continual party held in heaven, and has sex with every new soul that enters heaven.
  • Seton - One of the Sons of Kallan who sacrificed himself to destroy the Behemoth, a giant beast sent by The Alterans to level Persepolis.
  • Miranda - Escorts dead souls to the Throne of Kallan upon their death so that thay may be judged.
  • Belkon - The first prophet of Origin. Was fathered by Kallan to a prostitute living in Persepolis. His whole life was dedicated to the spread of Origin. When he was near death, laying on his deathbed, He had a vision of Heaven and Ascended, the first person to ever do so. His House was turned into a giant temple in Persepolis and worshipped as a Holy Site.
  • Spyran - The God of wisdom and Logic. Son of Kallan and brother to Mehla.
  • Hoyle - God of Craftsmen. Created heaven by seperating Altera into two realms.
  • Kanin - Goddess of nature and all living things. Represented as a women with flowing brown hair and clothed in robes made of leaves.

The Religion is thought to have originated in Ancient Persia, around 3000 years ago, and is considered to be a forerunner to the modern Zoroastrian faith.

Symbolism[edit]

The central icon of this religion is fire, something that gives off light and warmth.

The religion spreads its word through the use of simple, easy-to-grasp parables and aphorisms, using powerful and obvious symbolism and imagery of dark and light, the blind and the seeing, the right path and straying from it, and 'good followers' who have set shining examples of devotion and faith.

Teachings[edit]

Some practitioners have noted that many quotes from the Book of Origin bear resemblance to the Holy texts of many religions. This is probably because Origin is depicted as being the first in a family of religions including Islam and Christianity.
