Arleo E. Magtibay was the 1983 Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Awardee in the field of Engineering. [1]

Early life and education[edit]

Leo Magtibay was born on 12 October 1946. His parents were Atty. Leodegario Ignacio Magtibay and Julita Evangelista of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro.

Magtibay studied high school at the De La Salle. He was a long distance runner of the De La Salle track and field varsity and won medals in the NCAA.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the University of the Philippines - Diliman in 1966, and earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1981. [2]

Career[edit]

Magtibay was the General Manager of Concrete Aggregates Corporation (CAC); President of Consultants and Associates for People's Enterprises, (CAPE) Inc.; President of Hi-Con Builders & Developers, Corp.; President of Aggregates Construction & Realty Development Corp.; President of Fastract Systems Inc.; President of CAPE Realty, Inc.; President of CAPE Mine & Dev. Co.; and President of Consultants and Project Managers Inc. He was also a licensed real estate broker.

Academe[edit]

Magtibay was a thesis adviser at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and a technical consultant of the UP College of Engineering. In his earlier years, he taught mathematics at Feati University.

Organizations[edit]

Magtibay was active in various civil engineering, contractors and developers groups. He served as President of the Philippine Contractors Associaion; President of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers; President of the UP Alumni Engineers; President of the UP Vanguard Association Inc.

He was the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Pasig East

He was the founder of the UP Gamma Sigma Pi Fraternity.
