Administratively Uato Carbau is a sub district belongs to Viqueque district. The sub district situated in the eastern part of Timor Leste. Geographically, Uato Carbau located between Uato Lari, Bauguia and Iliomar sub districts (district of Baucau and Lospalos).

'Traditional wealth People of Uato Carbau have their own traditional wealth. They have a tradition that is passed down from their ancestors, for example: Uma ana and Oasae, etc. Uma ana and Oasae is a tradition that unforgettable. The tradition realised when a man and woman they decided to get married. People from man part called Uma ana and Oasae from woman part. The tradition can be recognised when there is a traditional ceremony such as sacral house ceremony, someone passed away from both (uma ana and oasae) family member, etc.

Economy growth and trade' Majority of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihoods; there are some local people who involved themselves in small business by selling daily basic needs. People of Uato Carbau harvest rice twice a year, corn harvest once a year. However, pumpkins, cassava, potato, coffee, beans, banana are seasonal harvest. They sell their local product for daily needs, to support children's schooling as well as customs matters.

There is one private pre-primary school that established by Catholics religion, there are 7 primary schools, 2 junior high schools and 1 secondary school. And some other non-formal education such as traditional courses, etc.

The health facility that available in the capital of the sub district is Community Health Center (CHC) without beds. Health personals who are working in the CHC consisting of general medicals doctor, Midwives, nurses, laboratory technician, pharmacist, etc. All villages available Health Post. People who work in the health facilities consisting of 1 medical doctor, 1 midwife and 1 nurse.
