From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BS.player is a multimedia player by Webtech. It specialises in video and DivX playback. Supported platforms include Windows 2000 - Windows 7.

History[edit]

The free version of BS.Player 1.38 and later was available with "WhenU" adware, which the developers included trying to pay the development costs. In September 2007, the adware was removed in favor of MeMedia AdVantage.[1] In August 2008, adware was removed entirely. BSplayer now ships with an option to install "BS.Player ControlBar" browser toolbar. [2] In 2008, the Softonic reviewer noted that she didn't like the installation of an adware element.[3]

Features[edit]

The supported files are[4]:

  • Video: avi, mpeg 1, mpeg 2, xvid, divx, 3ivx, ogg, ogm, matroska, asf, wmv etc
  • Audio: wav, mp2, mp3, ogg etc
  • Images: jpeg, gif, bmp (DirectX 9 required)

The player installs missing codecs for files that it opens.[5] It uses its own website to search movies subtitles.[6] The paid version supports Youtube video download.[7] The player has unique user interface. The movie is moved to a separate resizable window, so the users don't see the control panel during the time they watch the movie. [8]

  • Multiple formats support.
  • Low resourse usage. [11][5]
