Buck Goldstein is the University Entrepreneur in Residence and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He received his A.B. from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 1970. In 1973 he received his M.Ed from the University of Massachusetts, and in 1976 he received a J.D. with Honors from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He then co-founded Information America, an online information company which was ultimately acquired by the Thomson Corporation. Prior to returning to his Alma Mater, Goldstein also served as a partner in Mellon Ventures, the venture capitol branch of Mellon Bank. Along with his current position at UNC, Goldstein serves as Chairman of Medfusion, a Raleigh based medical information technology company, a Board observer for I-Contact, an RTP based email marketing company, and an advisor to Liquidia, a nano-technology company that was founded in the UNC chemistry department.

He coauthored a book with Holden Thorp called, Engines of Innovation—The Entrepreneurial University in the 21st Century, that will be published in late 2010. The book highlights the major role that Universities must play in solving the worlds biggest problems.
