Nijeena is a contemporary Indian painter and printmaker based in Kerala. She has done her early schooling from Sree Narayana High School,North Paravoor, Ernakulam and graduation from Trivandrum College Of Fine Arts, Kerala and MFA with first-class from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Nijeena was a recipient of the award of the IFACS Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi (2000), scholarship of HRD Ministry of India (1994-96),fellowship of HRD Ministry of India (1997-99), fellowship of Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi .She starts her carrier with strong figurative drawings, print making and photography, since 2005 She was living and working in Baroda and Mumbai for 11 years, Then she moved to Kerala and started her teaching as a guest faculty in printmaking department of Kerala University for some time. Permanent collection of her works are in Kangra art museum in Himachal.

Nijeena is the Director of studio SALT, Kerala’s first public print making studio. Pradesh and Lalit kala akademi of kerala.

Had 7 solo shows by galleries in Delhi,Mumbai and in Kochi

1993 - 1995 Worked in Graphics Studio, Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai. Worked in Print making studio at Santiniketan, West Bengal.

1996 - 1997 ‘Artists against Communalism’ workshop by Academy of Culture, Kerala. Group exhibitions in Mumbai, Baroda and Chennai.

1996 - 1998 Awarded fellowship of HRD Ministry of India.

1997 - 1998 Participated in ‘Women for Nature’ painting camp organized by Forest Department of Kerala at Thekkady.

1999 - 2000 Worked as a temporary lecturer in Department of Painting, Govt. Fine Arts College, Trichur, Kerala.

2000 Awarded IFACS of India 2000.

2000 - 2001 Worked as a guest lecturer in Department of Painting, r.l.v. College, M.G. University, Kerala.

2002 - 2003 Participated in National Camp with ArpanaKaur, KanchanChander, ramesh and many others, organized by Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi. Worked as an art consultant in FALWA Art Gallery, Dubai, UAE. Worked as an art teacher in Indian high school, Dubai, UAE.

2004 - 2007 Group show in Kashi Art Gallery, Cochin. Participated ‘Bridging the rural and urban’ project in Jaipur organized by Chinthan Upadhay. National Exhibition of Lalit Kala Akademi, New delhi Group shows in Mumbai, Cochin, Chennai and New Delhi.

2007-2009 Awarded Fellowship of Lalith Kala Akademi, Kerala 2008. Coordinated an art camp 2009 at Surat, Gujarat. Worked as an art consultant in Gallerie Mirchandani +Steinruecke Mumbai

2009-2012 Worked as a guest faculty in Dept Of Architecture, RachanaSansad, Mumbai. Group shows in kerala, Mumbai, Baroda, Ahamadabad, New Delhi, Dubai and in Singapore. Niv Art Center Art Residency for two months(july-aug 2011) in New Delhi ‘Tandedam’ gender fest calicut art camp organized by Dept.of Social Welfare, kerala Participated in National painter’s camp 2012 by kerala lalit kala akademi. Participated in the Project of ‘Shilpanagaram 2012’ by kerala lalith kala Akademi And DTPC of Calicut. Managing the project of banyan art centre -studio residency at Alwaye (kerala)

2012-2013 Worked with art project in MES School, Doha for Qatar food festival.

2013-2016 Worked as a temporary faculty in Govt .College of Fine Arts, Calicut University, Kerala. Participated aura art residecy 2016,atpunab Nepal art council art residency 2016 in,Nepal

2017-2019 Participated in National print making camp 2017 at kolkotta by National lalitkala academy. Works as a temporary faculty in Govt. College of Fine Arts Kerala University. Poet Ashan memorial art residency 2019,Thiruvanandapuram
