Title 10 Contents[edit]

  • Subtitle A—General Military Law
  • Subtitle B—Army
  • Subtitle C—Navy and Marine Corps
  • Subtitle D—Air Force
  • Subtitle E—Reserve Components

Each of the the other subtitles provides for the organization of the each service component as well as the Office of the Secretary fo Defense including the civilian and military leadership relationships and provides guidelines for the respective headquarters staff[1].

Title 10 also provides for the establishment of Combatant Commanders[2] as enacted by the defense reorganization known as Goldwater-Nichols Act.[3]

Subtitle A General Military Law[edit]

Subtitle A deals with the General organization of the US Armed Forces and Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and provides the legal basis for its execution by the Armed Forces

The UCMJ is found in Title 10, Subtitle A, Part II, Chapter 47 of the United States Code). Title 10A[4] adds additional legal provisions for the united Staes Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the Courts of Crimminal Appeals.
