The J-TREC Sustina (trademarked as sustina) /sʌsˈtinə/ is a family of stainless steel multiple unit railcars built by the Japan Transport Engineering Company (J-TREC). It was first introduced at InnoTrans 2012 and construction of experimental and limited-production railcars started by the following year. Mass production started in 2015 with the E235 series. Three variants were announced for its production: Commuter, Regional, and Intercity. As of 2022, only the Commuter variant has been constructed for a number of train operators in Japan and Southeast Asia.[1]
