Sebastian Walker

[edit]

Sebastian Walker is a correspondent for Fault Lines, Al Jazeera English's flagship program about the Americas based in Washington, DC.[1]

Before joining Fault Lines, Sebastian reported from Haiti for Al Jazeera, the only international TV news network to maintain a bureau in Port-au-Prince after the earthquake.[2] He arrived on the ground less than 24 hours after the earthquake hit and stayed on for a year and a half to document progress of the relief effort.[3]

Prior to joining Aljazeera's Americas broadcast center in 2008, Sebastian was based at the Middle East headquarters where he helped to launch the channel.[citation needed] He has worked for various international news organisations including Reuters and AFP, reporting from locations around the region including Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.[citation needed]

Josh Rushing

What They've Said:

  • “Mr. Rushing as a sort of AlJazeera Anderson Cooper: the same earnest emotiveness, the same blue-eyed magnetism.... He has that charisma—a presence that pops....” The New York Observer[4]
  • “What's the opposite of the Ugly American? Josh Rushing fills the bill.” The Wall Street Journal [5]
  • “AlJazeera’s Matt Lauer” GQ Magazine[6]
  • “Open, earnest, articulate—characteristics that should make any American proud.” L.A. Times[7]
  • “Earnest and thoughtful, a patriot and a skeptic—with shrewd observations…” Salon.com[8]
  • “His star turn made blue-state audiences swoon and marked him as a matinee idol for the nervous new century: a U.S. Marine, clean-cut, thoughtful, culturally sensitive....The hunk of war.” The New York Observer[9]
