US Women's National Soccer Team - Edits[edit]

Along with their lawsuit for pay-equity, the U.S. Women’s Soccer players have fought FIFA on policies regarding artificial playing surfaces. This battle to eliminate the use of turf in major women’s games heightened around the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, hosted by Canada; during this tournament, the US Women played 8 of their 10 games on artificial turf.[2] Prior to the 2015, World Cup, US legend Abby Wambach headed a discrimination lawsuit with world stars including Marta of Brazil and Homare Sawa of Japan.[3] Due to the tournament’s quick approach, the suit was dropped as payers were denied an expedited hearing.
