Questions raised[edit]

What is significant media coverage?[edit]

People who I think would fall under this category:

I see this often as an argument during AFD debates. It is something that troubles me, because this is hard to grasp. McCann/Holloway/Ramsey have happened during my time, they have demonstrated a huge media influence. They have "wide name recognition," in my opinion. But there are other problems. On the Amy Mihaljevic article, an anonymous user said that this was the high-profile kidnapping case before Ramsey [1]. Reading the article doesn't give me that impression though. But of course all articles are works in progress. To demonstrate notability for media coverage, it just needs to be written in, as such with Natalee Holloway. AFD would not be the place to go.

What about the murderers?[edit]

Someone once asked why murderers get their own articles, while victims tend to either be pushed into lists of or deleted altogether. This is because the murderers have themselves been the subject of intense media attention – speculation on their motivations, their last moments, their past life, etc. They have a substantial depth of coverage that WP:BIO calls for.

Some criteria for notability[edit]

Legislation[edit]

This is a no-brainer. People who have had acts named after them should get their own articles. Some might argue that even this is still not notable enough, and that they should be redirected to the article of the legislation (i.e. Jessica Lunsford to Jessica's Law). That's fine and dandy. But this page deals with whether the subject is notable for inclusion in any form. Examples would be:

"demonstrable wide name recognition"[edit]
