Bria Sullivan is an African American software engineer and mobile game entrepreneur, who is currently focused in developing mobile games based on Boba for Android and IOS systems. Sullivan was one of the engineers to develop a permanent 3D interactive installation for Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture.[1]Additionally, Sullivan is also involved in different projects to help underserved/underrepresented groups.

Early life and education

Sullivan received her computer science degree from California Polytechnic State University.[2]

Career

Microsoft

In May 2012, Sullivan started her 17 months software engineering internship at Microsoft. After she completed her internship at Microsoft, Sullivan was involved in mobile application development and in Sep 2014 Sullivan was back in Microsoft as a program Manager.

Google

In November 2015, Sullivan started her career journey at Google AdWords team in Los Angeles as a software engineer.[1] Sullivan received support from leadership and actively started volunteering and according to Time magazine, Sullivan was inspiring and empowering minority groups on programming and showing the them the potential for a fulfilling career in programming.[1] Sullivan also describes her team at Google as the most diverse team of all.[3]

During her time in google, Sullivan was also involved in a project to replicate very fragile Black History artifacts into 3D interactive installation for National Museum of African American History & Culture.[1]

Honey B Games

Sullivan left software engineer job at google in 2020 and wanted a more of a challenge and also wanted to have fun. Since Sullivan loved to have food with friends and play video games, Sullivan thought of developing games that she likes.[4] Sullivan loved drinking bubble tea since high school and thought of developing bubble tea games since 2013, however in 2020 she just thought of quitting at Google and develop bubble tea games.[5] Sullivan is a CEO/CTO of Honey B Games that makes games like Boba Story, Boba Barista Bubble Idle, and Milk Tea Mania with over 2 million downloads worldwide.[6] Until 2020, Sullivan had no idea about mobile game development and did not know where to start or what tool to use, however Sullivan is a successful mobile game entrepreneur with millions of downloads worldwide.[5]

Project

Sullivan had to go through a lot of challenges in her early career because of her race, color and gender before getting a respect she deserved.[2] Sullivan started a project called Tech Stacked to help underrepresented people to find a technical job or start a career in technical field.[7]

Sullivan was also one of the principal tech advisor for Start Fund program, and the intention of the program is to help minority groups start-ups.[2] Sullivan was involved in making sure the start-ups are hiring right technical individuals.[2]

While working at Microsoft, Sullivan was also independently building mobile(Android and iOS) applications and she had successfully developed applications.[7]
