Background and release

[edit]

In early 2018, Oh My Girl began advancements to debut in Japan and launched social media channels. On June 11, the Japanese website was launched and it was revealed that the group has signed a recording and management contract with Ariola Japan, a Sony Music Entertainment Japan label.[1] In addition, it was revealed that prior to Oh My Girl's formal debut, Oh My Girl Banhana would debut first on August 29, 2018 with a Japanese version of the Banana Allergy Monkey extended play.[1]

On September 25, it was revealed that the group would release their first Japanese studio album. The full tracklist was announced on October 4.[2] On December 21, the Japanese version of "Remember Me" was released as the first single of the album.[3] "Secret Garden" was released as the album's second single on December 28.[4]

A special Korean edition Oh My Girl Japan Debut Album distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Korea was released on March 15.[5]

[edit]

All songs from the album were performed during "Oh My Girl Japan Debut Commemoration Live Tour 2019", which began on January 4 in Fukuoka.[6] The Tokyo concert was aired on Music On! TV on January 30.[7]

On the first day of its release, the album debuted at number 1 on daily Oricon Albums Chart with 9,383 physical units sold.[8] Oh My Girl Japan Debut Album then placed second on the weekly Oricon Albums Chart with 15,940 units sold.[9]
