Life and career

[edit]

Harrington was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa, the only child and son of Holly Sue (nee Harrington) and Michael Willis Hartman (1957-2021). He was named after his two grandfathers, Robert Willis "Bob" Hartman and Dean Weston Harrington (1926-2006). Harrington was born at St. Lukes Hospital in Sioux City, and grew up in the Sioux City area, living in Sargeant Bluff and South Sioux City. He attended Hoover and Woodrow Wilson middle schools on Sioux City's Northide, and Sioux City North High School, graduating in 2008. He turned 18 in May of 2008, 21 in May of 2011, and 30 in May of 2020. His ancestry includes English, German, Irish, and Norwegian roots, with his great-great grandfather, Iver Storvik, having been born in Norway. His maternal grandmother was [[Shirley Booz (1927-2009) and his paternal grandmother was Sheryl Ann (Reed) Hartman (1938-2014). His parents raised in an open-minded, English speaking non religious household. His parents worked odd jobs never establishing careers, and not achieving home ownership or bachelors degrees. His parents separated shortly after his birth, with his mother briefly re-marrying. His grandparents helped to raise him financially, due to financial restraints. His parents battled mental and legal issues, with his mother going to prison for a brief time in the mid 1990s. Having originally sole custody, during her imprisonment for fraud, he went to live his his father and stayed with him til he was 18. His parents met while students at Sioux City East High School, and reconnected later in their mid 20s. They were briefly engaged and living together in a rental home when his mother became pregnant unexpectedly. They broke up due to his infedelity and abuse. Due to this, his mother did not give him his fathers last name, but hers instead. His father never married. His mother had also been born and raised in Sioux City, while his father had been born in a military base near El Paso, Texas during his parents army reserve time from South Dakota, where they were originally from. His family moved to Sioux City his senior year of high school, where he remained til his death. His maternal grandparents were cremated with their ashes buried in Memorial Park Cemetary, His father and grandmothe were cremated and interred at Rose Hill Cemetary in Clark, South Dakota.

Harrington's first paid job was at a Sonic Drive-in when he was 17, the summer before his senior year of high school. He quit this job after getting hired at Shopko Department Store, where he worked for the rest of his senior year and for a short time after his first year of college. He did not work during his college years, outside of a paid internship with Embassy Suites by Hilton to complete a degree requirement. His first job out of college was working at Habitat for Humanity for one calendar year October 2015-October 2016 in the position of Volunteer Coorindator through the AmeriCorps program. He followed this with beginning his career at Disney, participating in the Disney College Program for the Spring Advantage 2017 term (Feb-July). He had originally found out about the program in 2014, and applied for the Spring Advantage 2016 season, which he ended up turning down only to participate a year later.

He first attended Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he lived on campus and studied for one year (2008-2009). Following the death of his grandmother in May 2009, he took a break from school, returning in 2010 at Iowa Lakes Community College, living on campus in Estherville, Iowa, which he also attended for one year. His original major was Journalism. From 2011-2015 year lived in Des Moines and attended AIB College of Business, which closed soon after in 2016. He did not complete his bachelors degree at AIB and later enrolled at Buena Vista University, where he also failed to complete his degree. He does hold an A.A.S in Hospitality Management.

His stage experience primarily has existed within chorus roles. His first full musical production was Fiddler on the Roof in the spring of 2005. He followed this two years later with roles in Little Shop of Horrors and Oklahoma! After being frustrated with not being cast in his high school productions, he joined his local community theatre, appearing in seven mainstage full-scale musical productions, including Oklahoma!, High School Musical, High School Musical 2, Chicago, White Christmas, Mary Poppins, and The Drowsy Chaperone. His other roles include the straight plays "All in the Timing" and "The Imaginery Invalid". His largest role thus far has been portraying LInus in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.
