Seshie John Kodzo Atatsi Dordzeavudzi Seshie, born on Monday July 3 1905 to Dordzeavudzi Seshie of Aflao Bartorme Suife and Axadenya Xenyo also of Batorme, Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Early Childhood John spent his early years with his parents at Akporkploe, a small village then, about ten kilometers north of Aflao where his father engaged in Kente weaving and farming. The early death of Dordzeavudzi moved the wife and three children to Aflagatigorme in Aflao, close to the sea and the southern border between Ghana and Togo to stay with her brothers, the Xenyo family. Eucation His martenal uncle called Afavi spoke to his mother to allow him to attend school. He enrolled in the Aflao R.C. Primary School at Koklosime, now Aflaoga R.C. Primary School in 1916 to 1917. In 1918 he was transferred to a German School in Lome because of his academic brilliance. He spent two years in the German School, then enrolled in Three Town Middle School. After basic education, John enrolled at St Francis Training College at Hohoe. He Graduated after two years with a Third Class Preliminary Teacher in 1932.
Teaching Career
John was a Super Teacher (with registration number 2232R31) who did his teaching work in ten different stations, all in the position of a Headmaster. At all his stations, he was either sent to a difficult school to put things right or he was sent to start a new school. His teaching career lasted a span of 37 years. He was known for thriving for academic excellence, discipline and personal development.
Notable Students
His desire for discipline made him produce such notable students as;
1. Lieutenant Gen Arnold Quainoo, a general of the Ghanaian army and former commander of ECOMOG, the United Nations peace keeping mission in Liberia.
2. Dr A.K. Ahafia[1][2], a renowned Professor of Physicist, former dean of Physics Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and former Director at Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC).
3. Lieutenant Gen E.K. Kotoka, a distinguished Ghanaian General whose prowess in the Ghanaian army and in other places of the world made the Government and the people of Ghana name Ghana's premier International Airport after him: The Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
