Verna Josephine Dozier (October 9, 1917 – September 1, 2006) was a high school English teacher, Christian educator, and lay theologian affiliated with the Episcopal Church.
Biography
[edit]Dozier was born on October 9, 1917 to Lonna Dozier and Lucie E. Carter in Foggy Bottom, Washington D.C. She was the oldest of two daughters; her younger sister Lois was born on May 1, 1919.[1] Although both her parents were raised as Baptists, her father became an agnostic while her mother remained a devout Baptist.[1][2]
