Musical Background[edit]

At an early age I started playing the drums. Music was always around me, but it was only considered to be a hobby for everyone else. Every discovery within the context of music has been the outcome of my curiosity. I listened to the rhythm and timbre of everything around me. I lacked the understanding to connect melodic harmonic elements to the feeling or the sound of music. I found that because of this, I tried to use the emotional reaction to what I was hearing to guide me. Once I decided to take my endeavors to Berklee, I began to create my own original works. It was through this process that I actually began to become conscious of the relationship each and every sound has with each other. I had a strong desire to excel at production and songwriting so during the summer of 2013, I moved to NYC to take alternative coursework. I firmly believe that the time I spent in New York affirmed a lot of the views that I had on various types of music. DJing helped me realize that just because I may have a certain connection to something, doesn’t mean everyone else will have the same reaction. Due to this eye opening experience I started to look deeper into each and every element of a song, and try to make sense of what aspects cause a person to react a certain way. With this approach, I can create with a purpose rather than just for mere creation itself.
