Hi! I'm Hope and I am a sophomore at Rice University studying engineering but hoping to minor in the social sciences.

I am from Berkeley, CA where I grew up learning about a variety of social justice issues in school and on the streets. My teachers inspired me with their passion for the wellbeing of all. I hope to turn this passion into action, awareness and genuine concern for human flourishing from myself and those around me.

I am interested in working on the article for Internalized Racism because it is currently a start class article. There have been many studies on the mental impacts of internalized racism and the way it affects educational performance on self-perception. I would cite sources like Karen Pyke's “What Is Internalized Racial Oppression and Why Don't We Study It? Acknowledging Racism's Hidden Injuries" and "Internalized racial oppression as a moderator of the relationship between experiences of racial discrimination and mental distress among Asians and Pacific Islanders" by Garcia, David and Mapaye.
