Blocked[edit]

I appear to have been blocked by User:Will_Beback with minimal explanation. My user page now states I am suspected of being a sockpuppet of User:SallyForth123, but no explanation of why he suspects me is made. I have emailed this user, he has not responded to me. - Hoplon 23:24, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Blocking admin, Will Beback, has been contacted by Lar. - Nishkid64 02:12, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I was mistaken in identifying Hoplon as a previously banned user. I had been looking at another account and confused the two. I am very embarrassed by this mistake and am sorry for the inconvenience to Hoplon. My sincere apologies. Will Beback - 04:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Apology accepted, and believed to be sincere. Much of my downtime was spent reviewing the policies surrounding blocking a named user, but I suppose no amount of policy clarification can cover the case of a simple mistake. - Hoplon 04:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for accepting Will's apology. I did contact Will and discussed the findings of my investigation into your situation with him. I hope you have many happy edits in future. ++Lar: t/c 00:06, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Your edit to The Apprentice (UK)[edit]

Please can you check before you correct "typos" in articles, your recent edit to this article actually introduced errors and has been reverted. Many thanks, Seaserpent85 13:50, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

You are correct, that was my mistake. I realized partway through what I was doing and stopped, but didn't see that I left that one behind. - Hoplon 17:21, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

place of categories[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you moved categories after interlanguage links in some articles, e.g. Dian Wei, etc, when you cleaned up them. However, please note that Wikipedia policy is to put category after the article text, but before any interlanguage links. See Help:Category#Summary. Thank you. --Neo-Jay 06:23, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Davy Crockett Speech[edit]

Friendly question: Was that speech given by Davy Crockett? Also, second question, I am asking about the prominent political commentary featured before the narrative containing the alleged speech. Does that political commentary meet WP:POL? Thanks in advance for your answer to these two questions. SaltyBoatr 02:07, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Your answers 1)attributed 2)moot
Your reason[1] said otherwise: 'given'. Would you please update your reason then?
As to moot: How is moot relevant to meeting WP:POL? Moot says you are exempt from WP:POL, and you are not. Please explain.
It appears that I cannot find a link to a speech never given, so your suggestion to find another link to the text is impossible. Your link appears to be fiction, or unverified. Again, please identify the publisher, I challenge you to do this per WP:V. Also review WP:LINKS, links to be avoided, reason #2. Thanks. SaltyBoatr 04:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
My inquiry is friendly in a 'civility' sense. I am not personally challenging you, rather I am challenging you as a co-editor and collaborator. That is what I meant when I wrote: 'I challenge you to do this per WP:V'. WP:V "...in a nutshell: Material challenged or likely to be challenged, and all quotations, must be attributed to a reliable, published source."
Please do not perceive my challenge as personally threatening, it not intended so. Civil order at Wikipeidia exists between editors with different points of view, in large part, because we all agree to follow WP:POL. Could you therefore please answer my questions? Thanks. SaltyBoatr 13:55, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Civility is the bare minimum I would expect from any wikipedia editor. Claiming a question is "friendly" is well above and beyond that. I will simply remember to not treat any inquiry from you as friendly, despite what claims you may make to the contrary. - Hoplon 02:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

rewrite of lede section of Second Amendment to the United States Constitution[edit]

You have expressed interest in this topic in the past[2], so I am calling attention to the ongoing discussion of a rewrite and expansion to the lede section to the 2A article, here is the chance for you to give your input in this collaboration. Hoplophobia[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Hoplophobia. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 03:48, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
