Wendell Smith (1950 - December 19th, 2010) was the co-founder and Lead Pastor of The City Church in Kirkland, Washington until 2009.

Biography[edit]

Wendell Smith was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1950. In 1972, he married his wife Virginia (Gini). After marrying his wife, they moved to Portland, Oregon where they served as youth pastors at Bible Temple (now City Bible Church) for twenty years.

In 1992, Wendell and his wife founded The City Church in Bellevue, Washington.

Pastor Wendell was diagnosed with cancer in 2004.

In 2009, Wendell's son and daughter-in-law became the Lead Pastors of The City Church.

In December 2010, Wendell Smith passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

Wendell was survived by his wife, Gini, daughter Wendy Perez and son-in-law Benny; son Judah Smith and daughter-in-law Chelsea and six grandchildren.
