"R" is a pop-rock / electronic band formed in Caracas, Venezuela
History
[edit]Following the dissolution of the band "La Caceria De Hamlet", which in its short existence participated at the first edition of "FESTIVAL NUEVAS BANDAS" (Caracas, 1991), "R" was founded by Axel Avila in 1995 . The "FESTIVAL NUEVAS BANDAS" is the oldest event of this kind in Latin America, dedicated exclusively to new generations of musicians working in the field of urban music, specifically pop-rock and its variants. In 1996, members of "R" move to Europe and settled alternately in the Netherlands and Spain. In 1998 the videoclip of "Demolido", directed by Miriam Carcamo, received the first prize at the eighth edition of the "South Holland Video Festival". In 2000, they recorded a live performmance at the "SESIONES SALVAJES RADIO 3" Radio Nacional de España (Madrid). Since late 2006, the group resides in Berlin.
