Personal Life
[edit]As a teenager, Kehlani experienced insecurity due to her naturally muscular, non-feminine build. This discomfort with her body accounts for her numerous tattoos, the first of which being a knuckle tattoo done by her best friend at the age of 16. Currently, she has tattoos located on her shin, calf, thigh, stomach, under the ribs, arms, neck, face, back, and lip. While the tattoos had been done cheaply "out of someone's garage" or at the park, Kehlani states that each one is very meaningful in terms of content.[1][2]
Kehlani has opened up about her bisexuality, sharing that she had her first girlfriend in ninth grade. Conflicted by the thought that one had to be either gay or straight, and not both, she split with her girlfriend saying that she was unsure what she wanted.[3]
In 2015, Kehlani had been rumored to have been in a relationship with singer PARTYNEXTDOOR. Speculations arose with the posting of an Instagram picture of the two, and heightened with PARTYNEXTDOOR's release of songs "Girl from Oakland" and "Kehlani's Freestyle".[4] Since October of that year, however, the title "Kehlani's Freestyle" had been changed to "Things & Such" on the OVO singer's official SoundCloud, and the track's album picture had been changed from a photo of the two to a photo of only himself.[5]
