Kalamurina Station is a defunct pastoral lease that once operated as a cattle station in South Australia. The lease area is now part of the Kalamurina Sanctuary.
It is located approximately 214 kilometres (133 mi) north of Marree and 229 kilometres (142 mi) south west of Birdsville. The property was is in the Channel Country perched on between Lake Eyre and the Simpson Desert. The area is composed mostly of sand dunes and gibber plains.[1]
In 1908 the property occupied an area of 3,000 square miles (7,770 km2) and was stocked with 6,000 head of cattle,[2] the entire area had been struck by drought and owners had been offered reduced rates to destock there properties using the railway.
