Overview

[edit]

The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) is an annual report on the competitiveness of nations and has been published by IMD since 1989. The Yearbook benchmarks the performance of the 58 most competitive countries. [3] It measures the different facets of competitiveness, grouped into four factors (economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency and infrastructure). [4]

The WCY methodology is based on over 300 criteria, 2/3 hard data from international and national statistics and 1/3 survey data. Accuracy is ensured by the collaboration of over 50 Partner Institutes worldwide. [5] [1].

Competitiveness of Nations [6]

[edit]

The competitiveness of nations is a field of economic knowledge which analyzes the facts and policies that shape the ability of a nation to create and maintain an environment that sustains more value creation for its enterprises and more prosperity for its people. The IMD World Competitiveness Center’s[7] approach to world competitiveness is to analyze how nations and enterprises manage the totality of their competencies to achieve increased prosperity.
