Jessie and the Toy Boys is a project created by front member Jessie Malakouti. Members of the group include Malakouti and her "disco dolls".[1] Malakouti stated that she was in a band (Shut Up Stella)[1] that left her feeling like she needed to break out of her comfort zone and gather new perspective and experience,[1] so she went to the United Kingdom and went alone.[1]

Background[edit]

Malakouti rose to fame as Jessie and the Toy Boys with her single "Push It". Malakouti decided that she wanted to be in a band, but just because she was a "control freak", she didn't want to have a band that would argue about the opinions in music, fashion etc. She wanted full control, but she also wanted to feel like she was in a band. Malakouti wanted a band where there was mannequins, which she called "toy boys".[2]
